"flat head"

posted 26th Feb
I think my son is getting a flat head. he is 2 and half months. I noticed it the other day while bathing him.then last night my DH told me 2 of out friends said " oh he has a little bit of a flat head, don't worry it's normal." but the fact that they noticed and mentioned it has me worried. I tried to get a good picture, but you cant' really see it. I was googling...yeah bad idea. Anywho I found some different pillows for it. one is called babymoon and the other is by boppy.
these:

Boppy Noggin Nest Head Support, Brown Wheels

Anyone use them? they have good reviews on a few different sites.
He has a dr appointment in few days and I will be bringing that up. so for now I am wearing him more, propping him up and doing way more tummy time. We dont' have a bumbo, anything else I should be doing?

When he's sleeping lay him on his sides. I have a flat head and I hate it lol. They may want to put a helmet thing on him.

With the "back is best" theory these days, lots of babies are getting flat spots. I was worried about my kids' too, but from what I read and what my pedi said, in most cases it just rounds out once they start moving around in their sleep and spending more time off their backs (when they can sit, do more tummy time, crawl, walk). I wouldn't worry too much about it. I did have some Babymoov love nest pillows, but I only really used them once in a while when my babies were playing on their playmats.

We had to do physiotherapy cause he was preferring one side of his body more, so he got a flat head from laying on 1 side lol. But, we also got this pillow and it works wonders -> https://simonatal.de/themes/topnavi/index.php?id=3&languageid=2

Thak you everyoe. I'm goign to check out the pillows some of you mentioned! as well as put him on his sides and more tummy time. It's not bad, and I just looked at Dh's head ( ha we just shaved it) and he has a bit of a flat spot in the same spot as our son. lol

Could be genetic then. Just switch up his positions. Usually they don't do anything for it unless its serious.

i worried about this with my daughter, but she didn't get anything weird. She did sleep in a swing for 6 hours a day. My son doesn't care for the swing all that much, so he is in the pack and play or crib . maybe the harder surface? Idk. I just got upset when our two friends mentioned it. Had the whole " what is wrong with my baby" moment.
I have started to prob him on his sides or use a rolled up blanket under him for tummy time. The only time I lay him on his back now is at night, because i can't stay up and stare at him. lol

Good!! Sometimes we just don't realize how much our LOs lay on a certain side until we notice changes. I'm glad you caught it and it self correcting
