License for illegals

The state of North Carolina is going to start issuing license to illegal immigrants. These license will have a special stripe on them that says "NO LEGAL STATUS" to keep them from voting or obtaining government aid(medicaid, foodstamp, etc).

Good idea or waste of money? Your thoughts.

Is that different state to state? Because I know damn well illegals get welfare in my state >.<

I don't see how it would be a waste of money. Seems to me it would save money.

It's a new bill set to be voted on soon in my state.

I think it would too. They aren't all here to live off the system some of them have legitimate jobs but there are still those that comes here and have 6 kids they can't afford so they get welfare. Maybe this will put a stop to it. They will be legally allowed to drive but that's about it.

Great idea, that way they can be insured and drive legally.

I think its a good idea. unless the state plans on deporting all of them out then at least this way they can legally drive and show ID. One of the major problems with illegals seems to be not knowing who they are really and a big issue is tickets because of no license or insurance. they are going to drive no matter what if they are living here so it will make a difference imo. (it would with any illegal i have ever known)

DH knows a guy that has been depoprted 7 times. Keeps coming back with a different ID everytime. Last time we seen him he was using his uncles name.

While they typically are disqualified from alot of the social services we have, there are a few that they have access to.

But thats not the same as "welfare" as far as cash.

If people at the welfare office did their jobs when processing an application, would he not be able to tell a person is an illegal immigrant?

Blaming the social workers for the guidelines developed by the government is very ignorant.

Illegals don't get assistance for themselves, they get it for their children who are documented U.S. citizens. You can't get welfare without a social security number and they can tell from your social what your status is here in this country. When I applied for medicaid when I was pregnant with my daughter they denied me and told me that my SS number had some sort of flag on it because the visa I was here on expired.

How so? It's a fact, not a pretty one, but still a fact. Some illegal immigrants DO have too many mouths to feed, and they DO get assistance to feed them. Hell, there are people of all races that are guilty of popping out babies and playing the system like a fiddle.

I think it's a great idea.

But honestly the first thing I thought was that they're going to tell.all the illegals "hey, illegal immigrant, come get your license so you can drive legally!" And then once the illegals show up they'd be deported.
