re: 16wk blood test

Same thing happened with my first and it turned out, like yours, to be a false positive but she does have a rare form of autism that the test doesn't even screen for. So I went from super worried to relieved to the stress of trying to figure out what was going on with her.

I ready do understand how you feel. It's all I could think about. I have made it through two hurdles now hopefully just one more before I can take a sigh of relief and get some good sleep. I have had a few complication with this pregnancy and just wish all I had to worry about is was heartburn. I'll pray that your test results come back fine and you finally get to sight with relief . from what ive read the results to the blood work are wrong 90% of the time causing parents to worry when not needed and an amnio can cause a spontaneous miscarriage even if it doesnt happen often ive decided it isnt right for me. good luck.

My ob has 4 kids and didn't do the test for any of them (she of course didn't tell me this until I told her no I wasn't getting it).

I didn't do it with my daughter because my husband and I are young and healthy, then we lost her to SIDS. I know none of that would show up on the test, but going through the loss of another baby isn't something I think I could handle, at least not very well. So if something is wrong, I want to know sooner than later. My OB said they would do an ultrasound before an amnio, and I still have the choice to turn down the amnio if I want. Wont know the results for a week though...now it's just the waiting game. I know there is a risk of false positives, but I'd rather have that than have something be wrong and not know.

I agree with your viewpoint and I am so very sorry for your loss.
