IUD Q

So if you have an IUD and happen to get pregnant, I know you're supposed to see a Dr. As soon as possible. Do they take it out? Can it cause a miscarriage?
Things I should have asked when getting it done I suppose.
Just curious.

It depends, sometimes they take it out, sometimes they don't. It can cause miscarriage or sometimes becomes imbedded in the baby. Sometimes it ends up ok.

I had the copper iud. got pregnant on it, had it removed at 6 weeks and miscarried a week and half later.

I was told it could have been the reason why but we will never know

If they can take it out they will if not they will leave it in. Yes it can cause a miscarrage, but i also know people have had regular pregnancy's with them in

My best friend had Mirena and got pregnant. She went in as soon as she found out (6 weeks) and had it removed. She now has a healthy baby girl. I think it is like everything else and is different for everyone, and every situation. I'm getting paragard after this baby.

I have the paragard. That sounds like it may have happened anyway though, being a week and a half later. I would think if it was the removal, it would have happened pretty quickly. But ya never know. If that happened to me, I probably wouldn't blame the IUD. Sorry for your loss
