We have always used generic brands and cloth diapers.
I've heard of people buying gift cards for diapers instead of stocking up. That way the money is set aside but you can buy as you need.
It's hard to know exactly how many of each size you will go through. I just know the first 3 months I was changing diapers way more often.
And now you're giving me baby fever, lol.

if I were you, rather than stocking up I'd just put the money back. We started with pampers, loved them. Tried parent's choice, they irritated his skin, tried luv's and he peed through. We've gone back to pampers and decided that the bit higher cost worth it. We might try some target brand next, i've heard they're pretty good.

Get a pack of newborns and a pack of 1s. I wouldn't buy any more than that right now just because you never know how big baby will end up being.

I used Huggies for both of my kids, one boy and one girl. Right now I use Target's Up&Up because they're cheaper and they actually hold more fluid than the Huggies do. Plus you get more diapers for your dollar and they're thinner so they take up less space.

Every baby is different. I posted asking about how long babies were in newborn and I got multiple responses. My daughter is around 10 weeks and can still fit into newborn clothes and diapers. I use Huggies. I got a TON of diapers at my baby shower and I would just use whatever I received. No matter what brand i put on her she will still sometimes pee and poop out of them lol I even switched to size one and I think it made it worse lol

My son was born at almost 8lbs and was in newborns for about a month. He was probably in 1s for a couple of months. I think we only had one big box of Pampers newborns and then two or three of the smaller packs. We used almost all brands though. I loved pampers. Still do lol.

I honestly wouldn't buy more than 1 pack of newborn and 1 pack of 1s. Some babies grow really fast and chub up and those are often things people will buy you at a baby shower or as a gift, so you end up with more than you can use. If you want to stock up, buy some extra 2s or size 2-3. Babies tend to stay in those for at least a few months. =D

I prefer Pampers or the Walmart brand (Parent's Choice). I have 2 boys.

LO was born at 8 lbs 1 oz but dropped a pound before he came home.
He was in newborn for about two weeks.

However, you could always stock up and take them back to Walmart to exchange sizes. You don't even need a receipt.

I used Huggies until he got to be around 6 months, then I switched to Luvs. They fit him MUCH better and he never leaked after I switched.

And then you have people like me, with big babies. Baby A was out of newborn diapers and clothes before his 2 week check up.

We use Pampers for our son. Just stock up, you can always exchange them later if he outgrows one size. That's what we did. (:

My baby shower was amazing. I got everything! I got three different swings. I got outfits up to 2t and I got a closet full of diapers lol I came home and filled my living room and her bedroom lol it took a couple vehicles to get it home for me lol I've gotten a huge family though so that's why.
