How good is he with communication? Both speaking and listening?

My daughter tends to respond pretty well to talking through why something happened/why she is getting the consequence she is getting-- usually she freaks out more if I don't explain it?

Still ... why is he hitting the wall? He's mad and he gets a reaction from you. You're giving him the control. HE is deciding whether he stands in the corner or gets sent elsewhere.

he is very good at talking, and communicating, but he will get mad really easily.

Haha, I am lucky that she does so well on communication, it helps a TON.

We were at the store the other day and I was going to buy her a new movie so she could watch it with her aunt. I pulled out the movie, and immediately the attitude came out, so I said we couldn't get the movie, and then all of a sudden she's apologizing and giving me hugs and we talked about why we couldn't get the movie today, because of the way she reacted. That night when she went to bed she said, "I'm sorry that I wasn't nice and couldn't get the movie." For her, talking things out is really a godsend. I just hope that continues. hahaha

Hm.

I would try out speaking with him before getting sent to the corner, and after... see if either tends to get through to him a little more... maybe it won't help, but maybe it will help him calm down a bit?

no, i think it was helpful, I can try to just leave him in the corner longer, i just get irritated when he just kicks the wall, and smacks, it and keeps up the attitude.

It's amazing what my kids will do for a sticker lol
We started them with Dean because of his odd and adhd, then Jade (3 year old) wanted stickers, so we made a chart for her basically brushing teeth, picking up her room, being nice to Maks  

Dean has all attitude and behavior related, like got ready for school without drama, being respectful of teacher, doing homework without drama, eating all meals without drama, ect,,,

So do you get it for him then? How do you respond? Ignore it and leave or try to calm him and talk to Jim?

I would have made him clean up with me. I like to think that when the time comes I'll apply real-world punishments when my son misbehaves.

Yeah, and she did. She started crying, and saying, "But I want the movie." In the past, she would freak out a lot more, but she's getting to the point where I've been following through with what I've said, and I talk to her.\

I know it doesn't work for all kids, but we've had a lot of success talking through things. I tell her why we are not doing/getting/etc x, y, or z, and talk about "next time" and give her hugs and tell her that I love her and that we can go and do something else and divert her attention elsewhere, and lately it's been sticking. In the past she probably would have freaked out way more, but giving in and getting her the movie when she freaked out would have just undone all the work. (Also very hard because she does not get these consequences when she's with her dad, so it's taken longer. But we're getting there).
