I don't; like the way the poll is set up. There's a definite difference in screaming and raising your voice. I try not to yell ever... but I do at times. but raising your voice is not the same as losing control and screaming at a child.

in my marriage... my ex would scream. at the kids and I. Like.. inches from our face, red faced, spitting, screaming at the top of his lungs. definite difference.

I save yelling for dangerous situations. If I yell all the time her reactions to it will dull, she'll learn to tune me out very quickly, just as I learned to tune out my mother because she yelled over everything. Then when I really need her to listen and do what I say immediately, she may hesitate, stop to think about whether or not to listen, or tune me out. That could well be the difference if I am yelling about something that requires absolute and instant compliance.

I'm not going to create a boy who cried wolf situation. She knows that if I raise my voice, it is serious and dangerous, and believe you me, she listens RIGHT THE F*** NOW when I do yell because it's such a shock to her.

honestly, I'm not sure what everyone counts as YELLING but compared to how I was yelled at when I was growing up... I never ever ever ever yell just raise my voice

That would drive me crazy.

Yeah after the fact I realized I could have worded things different.

That's how my parents used to scream at me. I never ever have come to that point and I never want to or plan on it. There is NO reason to ever yell at anyone like that.

I'm loud in general, lol, no 1 listens to me when I scream or yell,
When my husband or the kids are going to get it, I stare at them till they realize they are in deep smurf...
Then I say whatever I have to say in a low, stern voice....

I have screamed once or twice... and felt like smurf. No excuse... but smurffy sleep schedule, combined with smurffy parenting schedule... I apologized profusely, and my kids forgave me. Now I know to step back before I lose it... I'll tell them I'm very tired, and crabby, and to give me a minute to calm down.

Well of course, everyone is on edge when they are not getting enough sleep! I have snapped at my kids when I haven't slept as well. When I tell them why I am cranky...they try to force me to nap lol
