What do you do at the gym?

posted 25th Feb
This is my third day straight at the gym. Usually I join then stop lol but I'm determined this time since gaining a lot of weight.
I currently weigh about 153. Usually I come and go on the bike for 5 miles which takes about 40 minutes and then I go on the treadmill for about 20 on the weight loss program. I also take lean body before I work out.

Also depending on what SO is doing ( back, arms, legs etc) ill usually join him at the end and then we do abs

Sound good? Anything I'm missing?

I weight lift, mostly. I use the elliptical also because I don't like running. It's not good for your knees. You should do some weight lifting, it won't bulk you up like a dude. Weight lifting will make a female's body look sick.

I use to do that with my SO then stopped cause he pisses me off lol but thanks I will do it again   also, I never run I walk at like 2.4 and it will randomly incline every so often

When I used to go to the gym, the elliptical was my fave. I worked my way up to doing an hour on it, burning almost 700 calories. Then to cool off I'd go the treadmill at a steady walking pace for 10 minutes. Then I'd work my arms and abs(Idk the names of the machines I used).

I go 6 days a week for no less than an hour. I try to do two workouts if I can't do an hour....On the days I only do an hour, I will do circuit training. Most days, I spend 60 minutes on the treadmill or crossramp and will spend another 30-60 minutes doing weight training. Depending on the day, depends on what area of the body I am targeting on weight training. My typical plan looks like this.
Sunday- Cardio and legs/arms
Monday- Cardio and arms/abs
Tuesday- Cardio and abs/legs
Wednesday- Rest
Thursday- Circuit
Friday- All cardio-long run
Saturday-60 minutes of cardio and circuit
*arms and backs the same time
ETA- I do a lot of cardio because I am training for a 13.1 half marathon.

Have you seen good results? And I'm an idiot but is the elliptical the machine that has two separate places for your feet and it looks like you're walking? Best way I can describe it lol

I only had my gym membership for about 2 months before we couldn't afford it anymore. But before I had to quit, yes, I was seeing results.
Now I do a Denis Austin DVD at home, lol.

I would walk closer to 3.5-4. Walking at 2.4 isn't going to do anything really. When I walk, I do 4 with a 5% incline and drop down to 3.5 with a 10-12% incline. I never use the bike though. I hate spin bikes. I'd rather ride a regular bike.

What do you do in circuit training? For abs I usually do that machine where you lift your legs up and then I get weights and bend sideways for my sides and then I use this crunch machine. Legs I do squats, I do the machine where you push forward and you get in like a squat position and then the one when you're laying down and push the weights up. Sorry I don't know the names of the machines yet lol

Yeah sometimes I feel like the bike doesn't do anything but my legs have been sore lately so I feel maybe it is for my legs? And usually ill walk faster but since I just started I'm starting a little slow only because with my diabetes I have to find a good pace where my blood sugar won't end up dropping drastically. I'm working my way up lol.

LOL I know what you mean!
A lot of cirucit is the same as the weight training but you can do circuit using your own body weight as resistance. A lot of these can be done with weights and I do that too, I do more reps if I am doing it without weights, seems to turn it into cardio too. There are too many to list but
Squats-
Plank
Burpees
Scissors
Push Ups
Sit ups
V-ups
Glute Kickbacks
Lunges
Booty Pushes
Hip Twists
Russian Twists
Roll-up
Single Leg drops
Get-ups
Side Planks
Leg Lifts (abs)
this is all I can remember at the moment.lol

That is the best way to do it, pace yourself and work your way up. I started at only running 2 and now I am up to 6 miles, slowly and surely you will progress.... Also, with your diabetes do you wear a medical ID band? I have to wear one too and it makes me feel much safer when I am at the gym.
