Movement monitor

In your experience, are the one with the sensor pad that go under the mattress better, or the one that just clips onto the babies diaper? The one that goes on the baby is much cheaper, but I also feel like once the baby starts rolling over it'd be pointless. Anyway, what're your thoughts?

What are they for? So you can flip your baby on their back if they roll on their belly?
I've never heard of it before.

They monitors the baby's breathing, if the baby stops breathing for 20 seconds an alarm goes off

i have the one with the pad under the mattress and i like it it, it does go off quite a bit because she rolls off of it but shes 8 months now. when she was a newborn it was good and it worked but if you put too much blankets under the baby it sometimes wont detect the baby since they are so small. but thats just if you put a comforter under her while she slept. she was born in the summer so i would just have a sheet under her and over her and it was great

I have done LOADS of research on breathing monitors and I have found that one of the best is the angel care brand. They go under the mattress. I have seen tons of demonstration videos on YouTube as well and feel like this will definitely be what we get for our babies. I have also read reviews of people saying it saved their baby. It alerted them and their baby wasn't breathing but when they picked baby up he started breathing again. Knowing it has already successfully saved lives, I will definitely be buying it. Also one lady wrote in her review that she continued to use it for her 3 year old for peace of mind. The alarm went off one night, she ran in there and saw her toddler had thrown up in his sleep laying on his back, choked and stopped breathing. She picked him up and he started breathing again. The way I see it, yes they are pretty expensive (especially because we gotta buy 2) but you can't really put a price on your child's life. Especially reading so many lives saved. And that was just in the regular product reviews online where they bought the thing. Imagine the people who didn't write reviews but still have stories.
Also the angel care one monitors the WHOLE crib. Not just where the pad is. Check out some YouTube demonstration videos. I believe I heard you can't have a mobile or ceiling fan though because it reads it as movement.

Did you have a mobile in your baby's crib? Did it register as movement?

I read the reviews on this one too and it's the one I'm leaning towards! My only thing is, for the first month or so the baby will be sleeping in our room, in a playpen either in the bassinet part of it or the newborn napper station. I'm wondering how this will work or if I just won't be able to use it until the baby is sleeping in his own crib. I wonder if it would work in the playpen mattress as well?

Hmmm THAT I'm not sure. We are planning cribs in our room though because of that. Maybe you could see if anyone put up videos?? Or make a new thread specifically asking people if they tried it. :/ I'm sorry I'm not much help with that!!
