potty time

posted 24th Feb
My daughter is almost three and not even close to potty trained sometimes she will pee but she wont even try to poop. How did you get your daughter potty trained and what are signs that she might not be ready?

I used the 3 day potty training method. It had a lot of great ideas and worked great. Ryan was completely potty trained in a week.

Does she know when she has to pee? Does she tell you or does it bother her to be in a dirty diaper? Those are pretty good signs usually. If she can take a nap and wake up dry, that is another good sign as well. Most kids are ready between 2 and 3yrs old but every child is different and some take longer. By 3 though she should be physically ready (unless she has some kind of health issues or something) but you also have to account for mental readiness too

i was a preschool/ toddler teacher for many years and all i have to say is that at 3 years old they completely have the ability and are just too busy to care/or are stubborn and prefer their diaper. i had a few 3 year old that were able to train in a couple day( a weekend) ..some need it to be very exciting (have a see through jar full of cheap toys and candy/sticker) if she goes she gets to pick one. its just a matter of staying at home and keeping her in undies for a couple days. ITS SO WORTH IT! i let my daughter run around naked during the summer months when she was 18 months and she was fully potty trained before 2. hurray. my son was a lil over two . just my opinion though, but i have had to potty train more that 15 kids and helped parents through it also. good luck! personality of the child i think has the most to do with why some don't train till 3 and some are 18m ..

idk. all i know is 3 year old that seemed to refused were either scared or to busy playing . but once they got it, they wouldn't have accidents.so just keep up what your doing, be consistent and don't stress too much! she will get it! =]

She doesn't have to poop at the same time of the day though. Just watch her.

Oh i know I'm just saying it's helpful because my son was regular so we would eat breakfast and an hour later i would have him sit on his potty and he would poop . I am just going to keep trying. She goes pee by herself sometimes even now so it must be working a little right?

Oh I see. I didn't do it like that so I didn't even think about it that way lol

And sounds like it's working
