I am not going to ruin my child...
posted 24th Feb
My youngest is 15 months old. We coslept until 7 months, until it no longer worked for either of us and he moved to his crib in his own room. It was a tough transition, but he is now an excellent sleeper who gets up only once a night. He usually goes to bed on his own (awake when I lay him down).
When he's teething or sick, he doesn't go down as well. I do our routine, lay him down and leave. If he cries, I'll give him a minute. If he continues, I'll go in. He'll lay himself down, I'll cover him up then ill sit in his rocking chair (usually play on my ipad) until he goes to sleep then ill leave.
I can't count the amount of times people have told me that I'm going to ruin his ability to put himself to sleep. I'm going to be stuck sitting in his room forever.
Like i said, he only does it when something is bugging him. If he's good, then so is his nights. If he needs me to sit in his room when he's 25, its not like I have anything better to do
End of rant.
