I am finally doing it. Standing up to my SIL.

I would have just made things for her kids this year, instead of causing a possible rift between the families... especially if it wasn't her intention to make you feel bad.

I can't make things for them anymore, she doesn't accept a lot of things I make unless she picks out the color and pattern. She's been a little more lax on the patterns but the color she has to pick.

So I made her daughter an awesome shawl for her birthday, I figured it could double, and I wanted to buy her son a robot book. All things that would be approved by her.

And now I've just pissed her off again. There's no winning at all.

All I wanted was to be fair too.

Did she not get her children anything? If she wants to get your kids gifts, i don't see the big deal as long as she knows its not something you'll be doing. I'm sure her kids got gifts too and wouldn't be jealous of your kids.

I don't know the whole story, but it's super petty that you feel so envious of her gift giving. My sister buys my kids stuff for holidays that I don't buy her kids stuff for and I do the same. Who cares?

I would never buy Easter gifts! Besides for my son from the Easter bunny

There's a very long back story.

This is something she does often so her family will look better than everyone else. We've been dealing with things that she's done like this for several years, and it's hard to explain.

Why not just say no Easter gifts?

It wasn't JUST party favors. She had actual gifts for the kids AND party favors.

That's where we got embarrassed.

My aunt always had Easter at her house and made all of us nieces and nephews up a gift, little trinkets and candy. No one else reciprocated. It was like a nice aunt/hostess thing.... not a big deal. Maybe your sil had the same thing in mind. I think it's kind of a shame that you couldn't just accept the gifts and let that be "her thing".

It's not just "party favors" though. She had gifts and party favors
