It's a very long back story that spans 10 years.

She just goes ahead and does things and thinks that it's generally ok with everyone. It's stuff that will the focus on HER and only HER. And I don't get why she does it.

But it goes back so many, years, I've only been in this family for 4 years and the things she's done to me are far worse.

I couldn't imagine being embarrassed because someone bought my children gifts at their own party...OP you sound like you hate this woman and just nit pick anything she does...damn, those were good intentions- if its such a big deal that she got gifts and you didn't why not just buy gifts for her kids this year anyway?

Quoting m o m ♥:" I would never buy Easter gifts! Besides for my son from the Easter bunny Oh well at least she knows now! It would be a headache getting her children something... Because of her pickiness lol"

It wasn't just the party favors. Because I think she did go to the dollar tree and she got them chalk and bubbles and party favors like that for Easter.

But she also had fully planned gifts. The gardening stuff, the stuffed lamb that was from Target for Malachi. I mean you've heard my stories, she does stuff like this all the time.

But instead of trying to stand up to her, she just gets pissed at me.

I wish someone would stop just letting her walk all over us and stand up to her, but as soon as someone stands up to her, she just attempts to put everyone back in their place so she can be the "queen" and everyone else is below her.

I'm just so over it. It's like almost a reason for a divorce, just to get away from her!

Ok not really but you know what I mean!

I honestly don't see the problem. It's not like everyone in your family gave out gifts and party favours, just her. So the rest of the family was in the same boat.

I would have just got them all (kids) something small and said nothing.

It doesn't sound like you were standing up to her. It just sounds like you are being a bitch about her trying to make a fun Easter for the kids. And the celebration (while religious etc etc) is for the children.it sounds like they had a good time so no big deal

Because I didn't want to put her in a situation like I was last year.

I was just trying to be fair.

If you've been put through the hell she's put us all through for the past x amount of years you would know.

This is what I'm getting from this as well.

I LOVE giving gifts. I make stuff for my family for Christmas. If I see something when I'm out that I know someone would love, I pick it up. I always have stickers in my bag for my niece who loves them.

I have to agree. It's not like it was your party and she crashed it with gifts.

Then let her think she looks better.... I think it's more childish of you to tell her she cannot buy your kids gifts because you feel like you can't live up to a standard. Family members buy my kids things all the and I don't, oh well.

Yeh...if I was hosting a holiday event or even sleep overs I always make something special for the kids to take home with them, or set up a crafting activity for them to make something themselves it's not that weird and definitely not done to make someone feel like smurf or cheap :-\

We do all give gifts. Grandma gets the kids things and gives them out before the party, usually after church, and then she did. I didn't give her kids anything, it was hurtful to me. And like I said this is a back story of things she's done to us for a very long time. It's not something that can be understood in just one post.

Unfortunately.

That's different than doing that and THEN buying them gifts on top of it.

No I didn't say she couldn't buy the kids gifts, I said if she was thinking about it to say so, so that way I could get her kids something too, because I had some awesome things in mind.

Not like I can put my finger on when, but I think she's done that too. And not stuff that she would say she was bringing over. Probably a time at my MILs

Then why not just get her kids a gift? Go to the dollar bin at target, and if she doesn't like the gift then at least you tried. I guess I'm having a really hard time understanding why you are embarrassed.

I can't buy things for her kids. They have to first be approved by her, otherwise she'll throw them away or give them away.

Then I can buy things.
