Ultrasound question

On Friday, I had an ultrasound which was organised through my hospital because they said it would be more accurate and easier for me. So we went and all was fine with the baby after more than two and a half hours of jabbing around to move him to see. But I'm a little annoyed. Here in Australia, we get two free ultrasounds (one during early pregnancy and then one between 16-20 weeks) and I feel like I've been a little ripped off this time. With DS, we were given a dvd of all of the pictures and the main diagnostic images were printed on the transparent paper to take away. At 11 weeks with this one, I was given a folder of all the photos too. This last ultrasound, I was given 3 horribly grainy pictures which are barely distinguishable. One is a bad shot of his profile and the other is feet that you have to squint to see, all printed on a piece of plain photocopier paper. I know I shouldn't complain because it was free, but really. I don't want to run around and show people pictures of the new baby before he's born? It just seems really half assed, considering that I was in there for just under 3 hours and they took more than 200 pics. They couldn't have printed like 10 decent quality ones?  

Would you go and get another ultrasound? SO seems to be under the impression that since we've seen it once, we don't need to see again. I just want some peace of mind

Usually the 16-20 week one lasts about 30-45 minutes so they can do all the measurements. I had a student technician and he had to go back several times to redo things. Then a supervisor had to come in and do it all again. I had to pee SO BAD by the end  

I'm still sore after it and it's now Monday! I just wish I had more to show for it than one clear picture  

I would just pay for another... but I love ultrasounds  

I get weekly ultrasounds and they are 45 min to an hr and a half! Half the time I din't get good pics at all!

Wow..they do my measuring so fast I can't even pay attention LOL

Yeh I have a sensitive stomach, if I had some noob prodding it for 15 minutes I would've been like "Okay, I am done, and I'm gonna go take a leak!"

He wasn't even the most brutal! The senior tech was the one who hurt the most. She kept attacking my belly like she was churning butter  

Here we have to pay for any ultrasound, I just had one at 18 weeks and it was $199 because I don't have a healthcare card. The hospital doesn't do it so the guy who does it has his own machine and the hospital refers you to him. It's SUPER expensive my 12 week one was $140.

Uuuurgh, I'm so glad we juuust qualified for a healthcare card! I would die if we had to pay that much! The one at 12 weeks cost us $90 but we got some back on Medicare too. Like $30 or something. Maybe I'll just go back to those guys in a few weeks  

Check around for an elective ultrasound facility. They don't take insurance but cost a lot less than the hospital and their whole focus is to get you the best possible pics, dvd, digital images, etc. We drove 2 hours to get one done with my daughter - we were so impressed that we started our own business and now have 4 facilities!

Wow that's really cool! It must be a really rewarding job to have  

I talked to SO and he, surprisingly, agreed with me! He wants to sort one out once we've moved house in a few weeks. I'm a little excited
