Tearing during delivery? TMI? Poll

Curious how many ladies tore and if they did how bad they did..
If you didn't did you use anything to "prepare" yourself for birth like oil?
I don't know how else to word the poll so if you have anything to add thanks!

I've never prepped myself. I was tore a little bit with my second and needed just a few stitched and no tears at all with my third.

Episiotomy with Addison, she was 9lbs with a 14 1/2 inch head, popped right on through when they snipped me.

Tore half an inch on the inside of my vagina with Asher, he was 8.4 with a 13 inch head.

Both healed in the same amount of time. Just stung when I peed

Did nothing to prepare.

Didn't tear with my first. With my second, I tore up because she was posterior... no stitches needed.

With my first I had a second degree tear. Tore from my clit to my smurf in a curve shape. Like if you look at a clock, from 12 to 3 that's how I tore. My second I just had what they called scraping. Didn't need stitches.

I tore in 4 places. Twice during birth, then they stitched me up and realized I hadn't delivered the afterbirth so during that I tore in 2 different places. They didn't tell me how many stitches I got but DH said it was a lot. I didn't feel all that bad though. Like PP said..just stung when I peed.

I don't want to get cut! It sounds so scary! Do they numb you? or just go right in and snip?

My tear sucked majorly. She was posterior and I had a urethral tear instead of the more common perennial tear (as in I tore up instead of down). It was second-degree and required a ton of stitches. The first time I had to pee I literally screamed and the nurse had to break the door down. That tear was probably the worst part of the entire delivery and recovery. But it still healed well and that kind of tear is pretty rare as it is. Really hoping to avoid tearing with this upcoming delivery.

with my first 2 I had episiotomies... but with my third they let me tear.. I ripped from one hole to the next. stitches in and out..   I still have pain because of it, and that was 3 1/2 years ago... and no, I didn't use oils or anything to stretch before hand...

lol Yeah, she numbed just that area, then snipped...I didn't even feel it. I didn't have an epidural with either, and since I tore a little with Asher, maybe they numbed me when they cut me with Addy since I didn't have the epi...I'm not sure.

Some people say it heals better if you tear, but I think it just depends. I healed up quickly with the cut and the tear.
