Quoting Kelly +2 ERF/EH!:" lol Yeah, she numbed just that area, then snipped...I didn't even feel it. I didn't have an epidural ... [snip!] ... Some people say it heals better if you tear, but I think it just depends. I healed up quickly with the cut and the tear."

that doesn't sound too bad then. I thought they just cut it like whatever haha

With my first I tore in two spots, needed seven stitches. With my second, he didn't even leave a scrape. Second was awesome lol.

I didn't "prep" myself. I did tear some, but I would have preferred to tear to the point needed than for them to cut me for possibly no reason.

Yeah, lol. They may numb it either way, but if they don't, it just takes a second

Addison's head was just so big and I had been pushing for 30 minutes, but as soon as she cut, her head popped right out. I'd prefer to be cut if that ever happens again.

I had an episiotomy with my first, which I didn't need and the doctor didn't even ask..she just did it. It hurt more getting it stitched up. I really didn't feel when she cut. My second I didn't tear or anything.

My SO told me they cut me twice. I never felt anything. The dr said if he wouldn't have cut me there was no way I could push the baby out. I asked him how many stitches I had and he said a lot. He didnt count how many I had.

Yeah, they definitely do tend to numb you. In my case though my epidural had failed but they all thought I was just being whiny and thought I was still numb. So I definitely felt the tearing, and the needle to numb it before the stitching. Then halfway through the stitching they discovered a second parallel tear and basically said that it would be faster to just go ahead and stitch it quickly without numbing rather than going through the numbing process again, and I SO wish I hadn't agreed to that. It's definitely not something you want to do with zero numbing involved. If it does end up happening to you just be sure youre really open about your pain management needs. I ended up having to stay an entire extra day and take dilaudid for the first two days post partum, and I probably wouldn't have had to if all the pain management had been handled better initially. The scar tissue made sex a little tricky for a few months too, ouch!

Oh goodness! I'm sorry that all that happened! I would be so upset if no one believed me about my pain! I don't think that's the time to accuse someone of just being whiny :/

It's fairly uncommon.
She shot out too fast and was face up.

I tore inside & out with my eldest. I had 20+ stitches.

I used oils. I did kegals. I did everything DR reccomended.

Than again.. I was also forced to push & deliver at 8cm dilated.

I had my 8lb 12oz baby via water birth and had very minimal tearing and I know its because of the warm water. I also pushed whenever I felt the need to, not when some nurse or Dr was telling me to. My baby wasnt being rushed to come out so the outcome was a lot better.
