How old where your toddlers when you started potty training ?
We've been potty training since 2 & she's 3 1/2 now & she's still not ready. She does have a bowel problem so could that be the cause, of her not wanting to use the potty ?

started at 2.. i mean i wasnt as ontop of it as i could have been but i just rolled with whatever cameron did and how interested he got in it. he started pooping in the potty no problem, and did good with that, but peeing was a different story and it took him awhile to get used to knowing when he had to go and not holding it in til the last minute. it wasnt til just after his 3rd brithday where he was fully pt'ed and it was also help to daycare too because he of course thought it was cool when they were helping all the other kids potty train in the classroom

We started at 2 and she was fully trained by 2 and a half with the exception of overnight diapers. She hated the potty though. We had to get one of those toilet seats that hooks on to the toilet and once we ttried that she was fine.

With my son we started at 2 1/2 and he didnt potty train fully until 3 months before he turned 4. One day he just woke up and started using it like he has been doing it for years. It was random.

18 months with dd and she was fully potty trained by the time she was 2. Ds is not quite two and we haven't even started yet. He will tell us if he wants to go from time to time but he rarely goes when he asks.

DD was potty trained by day at 2, and by night just before she turned 3. DS was trained by day at 2 also. He will be 3 on Saturday and he is nowhere near ready to be trained by night.

We did some elimination communication so DS used a potty around 8-9 months. Then i moved house and he got so busy being mobile that i didn't keep up. He was back to using the potty at 22 months but wore a diaper to pee in when we were out. Then he stopped for several valid reasons and went back to full time diapers. In the day he used to pee several times an hour and sometimes very close together, so there was no point in using a potty really.
He's been dry at night since around 2.5 yrs. Again it was around 2.5 that he was going longer periods between peeing so i asked him if he'd like to start using the potty again for daytime too. He was adament he wanted to still use diapers so that was what he did. We'd moved house just before he was 3 so it was the wrong time to start using the toilet again. A few months after we were settled he started using the potty but he wasn't taking it seriously, he was just doing it because he could but still wanted to use diapers. Then at 3 and bit years old he basically potty trained himself straight away. He also has a bowel issue and is on meds so i don't feel fully confident that he's completed toilet learning, but he's well on his way. He just wasn't ready before 3 and any potty time before that has been about improving our communication (EC) and him trying it out. I would never have just chosen an age and started him using a potty, i waited entirely for him to be ready and want to use it. I consider the whole journey as toilet learning and also don't think it has to be 'all or nothing' (sometimes a mix of diapers and potty can be what they need for a while).
Has she been wanting to use the toilet since she was 2, was it all down to her? Does she want to use it now? If it's no to those then i'd drop the whole issue entirely for a month or so, then talk to her about it and start again with the toilet when she wants to. If they have no interest by 4 yrs then i think it's something to take up with her doctor. A lot can happen between 3.5 - 4 though, i know of 2 other kids who 'trained' themselves overnight just before they were 4.

DS was two when we first started him on potty training, and just recently got to where he uses it regularly (like say, seven months ago...) still has accidents from time to time (which is normal...) and he turned four in December. It all depends on the child, really. Also if they have other kids around them their age potty trained or training, it makes it easier.

Thsnk you everyone for your responses.
I'm going to just wait a month & see if she's interested in it again.

I started PT DD when she was 2 1/2 and she was having too many accidents and I wasnt ready so i let it go. This passed December 2012 she became interested (without me asking or pushing her, she just took out her diaper and went potty) and since then she hasnt have 0 accidents, and she was waking up dry since then, so we started taking out the diapers to sleep for two weeks now and so far 0 accidents. Dont worry I talked to her therapist and she told me now days its no like before, now kids are taking their time till they at least 4, but get worry by 5. She would be ready
