"Matching" other siblings?

posted 24th Feb
I have a little girl due in May, and we think we finally have our name picked out for her. Our family somewhat disagrees with our choice, and we would like to see what others think. Her siblings are:
Mason Luke
Hunter Rhys
Carter Sophia
Jude Elliot
Rosalie Jane "Rosie"
Lillian Adelaide "Lilly"
Mary-Grace Alivia

We are planning on naming our little girl Delilah Mae-Belle. Our family likes the name, but they feel people will shorten it and call her Lilah, which is very similar to her sister Lilly. What do you guys think?

I think Delilah is nice and goes well with Rosalie and Mary- Grace. It might be just a tad too similar to Lillian, but overall, I think it is nice. I don't care for Mae-Belle. Delilah Belle would be lovely on her own.

Congrats!

I never thought of Carter being a girl's name. But yeah, it's possible that people will call her Lilah, I don't think you should change the name because of that. Mae-Belle I don't like.

Yeah. I don't know how one goes from Carter to Rosalie to Mary for girls. All over the place, lol.

I think out of practicality, Lily and Lilah will be a pain in the neck as they grow up, when you are calling for one the other may respond.

They do sounds awfully close. You could always go with Deli for a nn. I new a Delilah growing up who went by that.

Carter is actually named after her great-grandmother (my grandmother), who was named after her dad. We had mixed feelings about the name, but we ended up loving it and still do. She loves her name too. We really wanted her middle name to be Mae, since she'll be born in May. Belle was actually Rosie's ides. She is obsessed with Tinkerbell and wanted to name her that (NO!). Then Mason suggested Mae-Belle, which is a character from a movie he recently watched. So that's how her middle name came to be and we really would like to keep it.

We thought of Delly too but it sounds like a sandwich shop

We just weren't sure if maybe we should name her Delilah and see what nicknames she will develop, but we are afraid that it will be Lilah.

Meh don't worry about nicknames. We named our kids to be called their names. We have silly nicknames (bug and moo moo) but don't shorten their names often.

they don't match at all. I love it!

Not like they all start w/a letter or end in the same sound or have the same number of letters in them.

I like it

We have Elliot and Piper. You can't really shorten them too much, Well, Eli and Pip, but the only person who calls him Eli is his uncle.
My husband seems to think we need a longer name that can be shortened this time.

The only name I like is Oliver and unfortunately that would mean that 4 out of 5 of us end in ER.

Its too matchy matchy, but honestly, It is the only name that doesn't make my stomach turn at the moment.
