You cannot trust the specifications on retailers or other websites. That spreadsheet I linked has actual physical measurements by CPSTs.

For what it's worth, the Harmony Defender is shaped differently than the Nautilus, and is narrower all the way up where the Nautilus flares out, making it harder to puzzle in a 3 across. That's the main reason I bought the Defender. I can fit 2 Defenders & a Snugride 22 or RF MyRide in my backseat with room to spare.

If you have a 3rd row, why not put the 2 oldest in back and 2 youngest in middle row? Then you wouldn't need to worry about a 3 across.

If you want Radians, I'm sure they will fit your kids fine, just not as long as you are hoping. You won't get the longevity out of them with older kids because they have the same top slot height as the Nautilus & most kids will outgrow it well before the 80lb limit unless they have super short torsos. Most seats are outgrown by height first. Then the booster mode doesn't adjust so it is outgrown pretty quickly after harness mode is outgrown by height.

My oldest outgrew the Nautilus and Radian at 6 years old & about 65lbs. He was about 50th percentile at that time.

Thanks for the info! The reason I don't want the two middle seats utilized is because both of the kids will be rear facing and I can't get to the back seat to help my daughter buckle. Also the kids would have to crawl under the car seats to get in the back. If I put the younger kids RF in the back id have to climb over seats to get them in and it would just be a PITA considering how much we drive, plus I couldn't reach them from the front if I needed to. Id rather have three in the back and fold one captains chair into the floor. My back row is pretty narrow, though. There's only about 8 inches between the two nautilus seats. Id need two radians and I could keep one nautilus possibly. *shrugs* I wish I could just try the seats out as a test drive.

No. That would be wicked inconvenient. I wouldn't want to have to climb in the trunk with a one year old. Ha ha. i just need to get three in the rear and fold down a captain. That will work the best. I need new seats anyways because next school year my mother is taking my daughter while im at work abd picking up my oldest son from school since i work out of town. She will need a set of seats. I'll prob just give her the Nautilus seats.

I agree that 3 in the back is your best bet given the situation. Maybe 2 radians for the 2 youngest and a frontier for your oldest would work. The Frontier 85 is a little narrower than the Nautilus, has 2" higher top slots and harnesses to 85lbs. The highback mode goes to 120lbs and is the tallest on the market. Costs about the same as the Radian. Super spendy to buy 3 new seats though.   If you don't have a infant seat for the newb, you could pass down the MyRide.

I planned to pass down the myride. That or just get my oldest two radians and see if the myride would fit between them because I need to buy my two older kids carseats for my moms car anyways. I do have an infant seat as well. A snugride. Either way im going to ha e to buy this new baby a convertible seat so I might as well just upgrade my youngest now and pass down the myride since its still new.

How slender is the frontier? Wondering if it's more worth the money to get two of those instead of two radians.

The spreadsheet from car-seat.org says that it's 19", which is only .25" narrower than the Nautilus.

The MyRide may fit great next to the Frontier, because it has a narrower base and flares out higher, it fits great next to a low profile seat.

Hard to know for sure without trying it out though. If you have Babies R Us, I know they let you take seats out to try but I don't know if they have the Radian.

If you have the money, get it!!!!
