We'll do money when he's older. He's 3, so he isn't quite there. I'm not opposed to using money, just wouldn't work for us now as he values his time and toys far more than shiny metal or greeb paper. He knows things cost money, but its a slow process to understand the value, so I want him to have a better concept before I start with money---but I'll still encourage him to spend money on experiences vs things (like going bowling with friends vs a new toy).

I agree, we actually started out with toys and outings then went to money.

Well iv convinced SO to drop the money down to $15 a week. I too thought that $25 was too much. And she will also lose money for talking back.
I'm hoping this works out and she will understand that in order to get pocket money, she needs to do as she's told and learn to follow simple orders/instructions.
I forgot to mention that when she loses money, she doesn't get it back.

Exactly. There's no point in doing it if it wouldn't serve its purpose.

Thanks, were hoping it does.
The main purpose was because whenever we are out, she will want something. And we have told her that she isn't going to get stuff when she can't do as she is told. So this way, she does as she's told, gets rewarded when she does, therefore she can reward herself with something that she wants.
She is old enough to understand the concept of money and should know that you can't get things for nothing.....you have to work for things.
Day one and she is already down $4.50

It's the attitude and lying. Plus she refused to clean her room and pack away her stuff in the toy room. She made her 2yr old brother clean it for her, then told me she did it herself. When I found out who really done it, she continued to tell me she did. Then gave me the whole "I hate you" and stormed off to her room.
