Health Insurance?

posted 23rd Feb
I want to know basically what types of health insurance other moms have, what it includes, what your premiums are, etc.

I know NOTHING about health insurance so I want to get some basic ideas do that in the future I can choose a good plan. I have two kids 11 weeks and 3 years old, and I live with my boyfriend. Could we get a plan together?

Ours is through DH's work and I was on his plan before marriage as a domestic partner (not all states allow this). We pay about $147 a check (paid twice a month) for all 4 of us for health, dental, vision, and life insurance for him. I think we have amazing insurance. Well checks and annual exams are free. All doctors are $10 copay. ER is $100. Hospital is $250. All pre-natal care is covered 100% I paid $250 for L&D.

Wow that sounds pretty nice! I'm hoping I can get a job with benefits like that, but that's hard to come by these days :/

We pay $60/week for family coverage.
Deductible is $3000

ER is $250
Dr. Visit is $20 co pay
Prenatal/postnatal care is 100% AFTER deductible
We also get dental coverage and vision coverage. I'm not sure the exact numbers on that, but it is pretty good insurance for the price we pay. Having to pay $3000 before they pay any of my prenatal/postnatal care is the only thing that sucks, but most people aren't pregnant that often and once your deductible is paid for the year almost everything is covered 100%.

we pay 60 a week for just me and my husband. well check ups and other simmilar things are covered 100 % but everything else is full charge till the 3600 deductible is met then there is still a percentage we will owe for services. theres no idividual deductible for our specific plan unless my husband was on it by himself. for my pregnancy we will still owe 20% of whats left after we reach the deductible of 3600.. there's probably other details we just got on the plan.

the plans offered through my husbands work all suck IMO and this was the best out of 3 for our situation for this year.. since i was pregnant we choose this specific one but the others are terrible in my opinion.. Louisiana sucks

I pay about $250 a paycheck for my husband, son and I.

That includes medical and dental.

I have Kaiser and I find them to be a little over priced. For every visit it's $25, and if my memory serves me correctly, I believe we have a $600 deductible.

Yeah I always thought I paid too much for it! But when I tried talking to my co-workers about it they said it's because my son is on it (which makes no sense to me)

It all depends on what your employer covers. Some of them don't pay much for children or spouses.
