pregnant and depo shot

posted 23rd Feb
Well my story go like this. August I had a miscarriage and I got on depo shot. December was my second around for getting the shot. Now I haven't had any issues until now. I strongly feel that I'm pregnant and I'm scared to take test because I think it won't detect it. I was writing to see have anybody experience this problem before.

Why do you think it wouldn't detect it

depo can sometimes give off pregnancy like symptoms.. but a test will be able to tell you even on the shot if you are indeed preg

The depo won't throw off your test results. Mostly just testing too early will.
I had yucky side effects on the depo like increased appetite, mood swings, breast pain and fatigue. Apparently all normal and sucky side effects.
Just test if you think you might be pregnant but do it when you think you would get a pretty solid pos or neg so you aren't left wondering.

Because my sister got pregnant on depo shot as well. But she felt it in her bones she was pregnant. When she took her test it was negative result. Then she went to the doctor she was nine weeks along. That's why but I do have a first response test and a clear blue

Some women take a very long time to get a positive hpt. They aren't 100% fool proof.

I can second this as I had issues with it, I was dealing with a lot of pregnancy like symptoms and one of which was actually something similar to lactation. It took multiple pregnancy tests and blood tests to show that I wasn't and after about a year it was finally narrowed down that depo was messing with my body. Not only was I having symptoms similar to pregnancy but I also was having much more severe side effects. If you're worried, do what you need to do.

Have you tested yet?

If it comes up negitive I would wait another week. Depending on how far along you think you would be, you may wanna wait two weeks. If it comes up negitive again, schedule a blood test to ease your mind.

I did the same thing with miscarriage and then got on the Depo shot back in June 2012. I only had one shot but spent the whole 3 months thinking I was pregnant. I had every symptom in the book too. I looked it up and found out that having pregnancy symptoms is one of the side effects of it but my doctor failed to mention that when she gave it to me.

Edit: reread your post, nevermind... I would suggest going to your doctor and getting a blood test, because I've heard the depo can cause false negatives (no idea if that is true), and if you aren't, get the shot again, if you feel that is the best form of birth control for you.
