Would this bother you?

Your husband/boyfriend works with someone of the opposite sex and he considers her a friend. He tells her something he's been wanting to buy, and she surprises him the next day at work with the item as a gift. The gift cost around $50.

If it would bother you, what would you do/say about it?
If it would not bother you, why not?

Yes...$50 is way too much and is suspicious.

It wouldn't really bother me too much. I mean, she obviously has a thing for him. I trust DH, though, so I know it would go nowhere.

If it was someone he'd known some time, no. But a fairly new person he's on friendly terms with? Yes. It seems a little much.

How long have they worked together? Are they friends outside of work, do they attend happy hour or anything together? Have you ever met her?

I think $50 is kind of excessive especially if they dont hang out outside of work but it could be a drop in the bucket to her...who knows. I wouldnt automatically assume she was trying to get somewhere with it though.

I trust him completely, I'm just a little off put by this.  

I would find it ok had it been a party and everyone did a 'secret Santa' type thing, but randomly? No, that feels kinda wrong. I wouldn't accept anything like that.

It would bother me...The only women in my husband's life that should be buying him things (especially more expensive items) should be me, his mom, sister, or another family member. They might be just friends, and she just wanted to be nice, but still that's a little much and makes it look like there's more interest on her side at least.

Yeah that's weird. Unless they were good friends and this was normal.

Do you know the friend? SO has some female friends that it would bother me, and some it wouldn't... Either way I probably wouldn't say anything because i trust SO not to cheat

I wouldn't be bothered by it. I'm that kind of person...
