I'm not sure. I don't know much about her, but he said he thinks she's really lonely. She's a single mom and has just moved her by herself.

Maybe I am analyzing it too deeply. I just feel like $50 is kind of a lot on a surprise gift for a work friend...

That's a bit much and yes, I would be bothered by it. I guess it really does all depend on how long they've been friends, though.

Yes. That's not a normal platonic gesture. While he may not be interested, her actions state that she is.

Did you tell your husband that it made you uncomfortable?

I did. He told me I have nothing to worry about. I trust him completely, I just feel kind of weird about it, like she is crossing a line. It's certainly something I would never do.

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, but did he have an opinion on it being weird too?

What was the gift?

Maybe she got an awesome deal on it or happened upon one for free or something and just thought she'd be nice.

In my opinion, especially if they haven't been friends long, that is crossing a line.

He seemed surprised but not really uncomfortable.

It was a baseball cap.

If you trust your husband I wouldn't worry too much. Since you let him know that it bothered you, maybe next time (if there is one) he can politely refuse to accept it?

Maybe she had a coupon for it? It seems like such an innocent gift.
