Open relationships

I was reading something about married couples with open relationships the other day and it got me curious. These couples were married, madly in love with each other, but had partners on the side. Strictly sex partners, some had boy/girlfriends that they took on dates.

So could you ever have an open relationship? Why or why not?

I could do it. He says he could do it but only halfway. I don't care what he does as long as he always comes home to me.

But this does seem weird. I thought open relationships were for a sexual purpose? I mean, I understand if people want to have sex with others, go for it. But why "date" others? Isn't that kind of taking the role of the person you're in the open relationship with? I don't know if I'm explaining my questions right....

That's more of a Polyamorous relationship.

No, I couldn't. I'm not strong enough for that- I couldn't share him like that. Call me an insecure psychopath, but I don't want SO going anywhere but me for sex. It would ruin the idea of sex for me anyways, unless the bitch is going to get tested 3 months BEFORE they do anything, and if she isn't smurfing anyone else during the 3 months, and doesn't the entire time they're together, then I wouldn't even consider it. I'm not getting an STD for the simple fact SO gets his dick wet. Because I certainly couldn't sleep with anyone else. That's why I have porn and my vib LOL

THIS! plus I (personally) think that threesomes, swinging, open relationships, etc. are all basically cheating... I'm sorry when I said my vows there was nothing in there about loving this one man and screwing whoever else we wanted

I'm okay with my SO getting oral but that's about it. He's actually gone through with it once when I was there but I doubt he will do it again. He feels kinda bad about it and said a few weeks ago that he felt like he cheated, even if I keep telling him I am okay with it. So I guess in our case, no we can't handle an open relationship.

Cheating (by "definition") is doing intimate things with someone BEHIND your SO's back.

I could never. When it comes to my husband I'm an extremely jealous person lol shameful, but true.

Uhh. Kinda.. It's hard to explain. And there are different versions of polyamory. Like sometimes there is a main person who has multiple relationships, sometimes there are 3-4-5 people in one single relationship with each other, sometimes there is a main couple with couples branching off of that.
