need.advice

So my almost 3 year old.hasn't had a bowel movement in about 3 days.. actually 3 days today. We went to the doctors a.few days ago he told me to give him prune juice. Really a 2 year old.isn't gonna drink that so I took his advice anyway.. well ast night I took him to urgent care bc he isn't pooping and she prescribed Miralax. My husband was.pretty upset with the pediatrician bc we both felt like he brushed it off bc he's so busy all the time. So he prescribed us a.suppositiory last night which moved only about a turd so today we went back to the doctor and he said to just keep him on Miralax and get hold.of.him on Thursday!! My.son wakes up and complains day and.night.of.stomach.pain and he wants to let.him not poop for another 5 days!!! The urgent care doctor.said of he doesn't go by Sunday night to bring him to the er. I'm just so.frustrated and don't know what to do its.so sad seeing him in pain. They did xrays and.that's how they know he's.pretty bound up. I mean I've just had it. You would think his pediatrician would be more involved.in this.. its no joke

My dd has had constipation problems. We use pedis lax when she's starting to show signs of constipation. We e has to use enemas before. It's not fun   and when she's constipated she always poops her pants cause she screams and cries and paces around for hours til her body just can't hold it in anymore   its so hard to see but there's really nothing u can do.

Try an enema.

The provlem.is he doesn't have constipation issues and never has.. my.issue is he may be impacted and none of this will help.if that's the case.

He's.on Miralax and had a supposition the Dr and urgent care doctor said nopre enemas or suppository keep him on the Miralax and if he doesn't gone needs to go to the er tomorrow

Kids will actually hold it as well. My daughter was notorious for this. She was constipated once. It hurt to go so she started refusing to go. That is why the pedi didn't get to rushed. With a kid, it eventually comes out unless there is am intentional problem (would be pre diagnosed).

To get the toddler to drink the prune juice, mix it with apple juice. They will actually drink it. Another natural laxative is fruit. Especially grapes, cantaloupe and watermelon. Let your son eat as many grapes as he wants. Give him a big bowl. I promise you, he will be going very soon. Same with the others. Keep him home and near the bathroom for a bit.

He won't eat . That's the issue he has no appetite and will only drink. I tried mixing the two he refused to drink it. It's almost so frustrating I wanna scream .. he's not holding it in bc he normally.poops 3-4 x a day .. this is a new issue he has no problem in that department. I think he may have other undiagnosed issues with his digestion he also pukes often at night . The doctor is well.aware just one of those fly by doctors that want in and put of the room

Then get a new doctor and if you truly think something more serious is going on then go to the ER now.

Just because he hasn't been constipated in the past doesn't mean it can't happen. Think about his diet the past few days, his routine, has he been on meds, drinking enough fluids ect....

It happens once in a while.

Drs opt not to jump to worst case scenario with kids right away because it frightens them and have them fight each time they need to see the Dr. Plus, do you really want unnecessary procedures done every time you take your child in?

I know you are frustrated. I get it. You are a mom who's baby is not feeling well and you are pregnant on top of it. Try to relax so he can relax.

What about water? Will he drink plain water? Make sure you only give him whole grains too. And stay away from processed foods.

I'm not overreacting and don't want my child to have unnecessary procedures done. I'm a mom whose child has little to no problems thank goodness .. but his diet asnt changed ans he's as.active as he's been bad he isn't on meds. I know constipation can happen. It's just not normal to have a child.be.in lain for a lengthy time.

That's my.point. I will.wait til.tomorrow as the doctor at urgent care said. If he doesn't go on his own then I will.take him in. Believe me that's def not what I want to do. My.whole.point in this post is he's been in pain for 3 days now crying pain.. waking him.up out.of sleep at nightpain, and these normal.suppository and enemas and Miralax are not effective and they just wanna wait and wait. It's not that I don't get it bc.I do but I know if something is going on in there it can cause a lot of.problems and he can get very.sick.

ND yes he drinks water a lot.. I started with that to try to get him to go at first ... And yes I know exactly.what ur saying. Thanks girl

is he drinking plenty of fluids?

miralax and a lot of fluids should do the trick. not sure what you want the ped to do? there are over the counter suppositories, enemas, and miralax... none of which require a ped.

feed him anything that usually makes him go.
