Female dog who's fixed - bleeding

I think my dog might be having a "period"

I noticed she's be licking herself down there a lot (its gross), and I've noticed that when she gets up there are little spots of blood. The only thing is we got her from the shelter and i'm about 100% sure she's been fixed in some way. I looked it up and it says it can happen but it depends on how they did it, not sure if this is 100% true.

Has this happen with anyones dog?

My dog used to get her little doggie period but she wasn't fixed. It's stopped completely when we got her fixed. Maybe she's licked herself raw and thats where the blood is coming from?

Possibly. She's not super bleeding like my inlaws dog does when she's on it. It's just when she sits down somewhere.

Not to sound gross but maybe try and sneak a peak down there and see if you can see any open spots she's been licking. Then you might want to put a cone on her or something until you can get her to the vet.

I've never heard of that. I have 2 dogs, one is fixed, the other is not. The dog that is fixed does not bleed ever. The other dog bleeds about every 6-8 weeks and yes it's very gross.

I don't really see any blood so i'm wondering what's going on? Probably going to have to take her to a vet.

awww I know it'll help! I used to have a cat with an allergy to her own skin and she would have to get steroid shots every month to stop the itching. She would have to wear a cone ALL.THE.TIME practically until her self inflicted wounds healed. Biggest pain in the ass ever.

Poor thing.

We're taking her to the vet tomorrow just to make sure.
