seeing baby's heartbeat!

posted 22nd Feb
I know I am not in the clear yet, but I had my first appointment today and am measuring at 7 weeks 2 days and my OB saw the little heartbeat, which is a great sign of course! I am trying my hardest to be zen and laid back about everything, but I still can't help but worry, haha. It is in my nature. I know it does not guarantee anything, but I can't wait to be out of the 1st trimester.

I'm the same way. My whole first trimester, every time I went to the bathroom I almost expected to see blood... But I made it to 31 weeks so far! And you will too!

Congrads!

Thats how I was, each week was a milestone for me... and because I had all day nausea I just wanted to see 12-14 weeks, and when I hit 12 weeks I wanted to see 14 weeks... an then I was excited to see 20 weeks... now i'm 37 weeks today and i'm so anxious for March 8th, because i'm getting induced.

Aw congrats! I STILL use each week as a milestone.. It's kind of empowering to know that you get through another week successfully. I bet you're super anxious now!

Congrats to you as well! And yes... very anxious and in pain all the time... lol, ready for him to be out! I waited for this little man since 2009 (we decided we would TTC, just had 3 losses along the way due to a clotting disorder).

oh my goodness, that is so soon!
I know what you mean, I am just trying to take it day by day. My doctor will see me every 2 weeks until i feel less anxious, so that is pretty helpful.

Is it normal to wait until the 2nd trimester in the UK to have an ultrasound?
I feel like they totally over do it in the states with all of this medical stuff.

In the Uk it is standard to have 1 at 12 weeks to date and do nt test if you want it then 20 weeks to do anatomy and they wont check for heartbeat with a doppler until after 15 weeks. My last lb:s dating scan wasnt until.13 and a half weeks!! But with.him.I had early scans due to previous losses so.wasnt so bad lol. Shouldve been exactly on 12 weeks this time but had to rearrange as oh and our lift couldnt do this thursday lol. Oh well only a week!!!!

Even though Im impatient I think they do it right here. I see so many people.from.the states stressing because theyre ob has done an us at 5 and a half weeks and theres no heartbeat or seeing its twins early and losing one (which i understand is hard) in the uk we wouldve never known it was twins so wouldnt have gone through the heartache. (I have seen his haplen qiite. often) at 12 weeks the baby is ok or it is not really (well chances go.down alot!) which is why the nhs do it then as they cant afford lots more lol x
