NEED HELP! SO SICK!

Im 38 weeks pregnant and have been sick for about month in a half now off and on with a terrible cough and sore throat. So at my doctor appointment a week and a half ago I told her and she wasnt sure if it was a cold or allergies so she prescribed some for both. & it just keeps getting worser and last night i went to the ER and they have no idea what is is. So he prescribed some acid reflex medicine and it doesnt seem to be doing anything! I am just so drained from no sleep and puking from coughing so hard. My stomach, chest everything hurts and im scared im hurting the baby. Anybody have any ideas and suggestions?

Did they do a chest X-ray?

Sleep with your head elevated... A recliner if you have one. Your body hurts from the violent jerking from the cough. Cool mist humidifier... Sit in a steamy bathroom. Try to avoid meds at this point if possible... Even "safe" meds aren't really good for baby. And if you plan to breastfeed most of them can pass to baby, and you could go any minute. Decaf tea with honey for your throat... And hang in there... It's almost over!

No all he did was check my tonsils and listen to my heart beat

I had something similar back in Nov-Dec. It first started with a cough, then a slight sore throat. Then my chest just starting hurting so bad and I had wheezing in my breath. I went to the dr once and she gave me f'ing cough syrup and told me to take mucinex, so I did. I took the mucus stuff for a little over a week, then I started to get a fever, still had the couch, was throwing up, and still had the wheezing, went back to the dr again, and she seriously gave me vicodin and nausea meds. Took the V for a few days and it got rid of the fever, but couldn't get better, and could hardly breathe, so I went to Urgent Care and they gave me a chest x-ray, and found I had walking pneumonia. Gave me a breathing treatment and a shot in the butt. Sent me home with an inhaler and a z-pack.


I don't want you getting bad or getting something worse like I did.

Anyone test you for asthma? I had the same problem for 8 months straight. Soon as i got on meds for that i started to feel better in a few days..

he listened to my hearte and said he didnt hear wheezing so he didnt think it was asthma

I didnt have that either. They did a chest x-ray on me and noticed my airway was stricken and started me on heavy doses of asthma meds to make me feel better. After 2 weeks of being on all of it i was good as new.

I'm not saying you have what I did, but an X-ray couldn't hurt.

I've had a horrible cold that turned into a sinus infection for the past 2 weeks, today I just started feeling better. I toughed it out for the first week and didn't take any kind of medicine to help just cough drops. But it got worse the next week so I started taking Robitussin which helped a ton at night and I wouldn't wake up coughing forever, I was worried it would turn into bronchitis. I finally got put on some antibiotics on Wednesday and luckily I feel a ton better already, I am having my c section on the 28th and I needed this crap gone!

I've been using a humidifier in my room at night, taking lots of warm baths, drinking lots of fluids will help and orange juice! The Robitussin was a life saver for me in order to sleep at night, I'd only take it before bed. Good luck to you, I know how miserable it is mostly being pregnant!
