My friends gf is pregnant and had to go to the er today her blood pressure kept dropping... apparently she has some heart problems and used to waer a pace maker but he said she had to sign some kind of waiver about there.being a 95% chance she will go into a coma during child birth....

Both.... ive never heard of something like this.... she had to apparently sign a waiver to save the baby because she would most likely go into a coma... didnt know if anyone knew anyone who this may have happened to

wait... she USED to have a pacemaker??
I feel like that's not really a temporary thing.
Are you thinking she's full of smurf? Because that sounds a little out there... but I could be wrong.

She probably signed that they preform a c-section on her if she slips into a coma.

A living will?

They asked me every time I went into the hospital when I was pregnant if I had a living will and I always said no. I'm pretty sure that's just something they have to do.

It's something that a parent or spouse signs saying if something went wrong would they want to save you or the baby.

ETA well that's what the nurse told me lol don't hold me to it.

Although if her heart is the problem you'd think they would just put the pace maker back in. Problem solved.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Pacemakers are permanent implants. It's also not something you just "WEAR" either...

It wasn't a waiver. It was likely a living will and a legal request form that she had to sign. It follows her requests. She also probably signed something that said the Dr told her the risks of her condition and pregnancy.

They will remove the pacemaker if the initial implant caused infection. That's really the only reason they remove them.
