I'd be pissed. Thats why I will never have a kitty, I remember being scratched as a kid and it was not pleasant.

She's tougher than me, that's for sure... didn't seem to bother her all that much.. but damnit man, I just wanted so badly to punt the cat across the room. He's really playful and can be sweet, just doesn't know not to use his claws.. he's still youngish, maybe 6 months old? Our first cat, so I'm sorta at a loss here.

His claws definitely need to be trimmed! And you need to teach him to not be so rough. I would assume by his age that he isn't fixed yet, so after that they usually mellow down a bit. But the best thing is to train the cat.

That looks kind of deep for a cat. Take him to the vet and get those claws cut!

i agree.
when my son was 2, my mil's dog bit him in the face. I wanted to beat the living smurf out of him but we didn't. Almost 3 years later he still has a small scar beside his eye. Now we just make sure they're never alone together. Hasn't happened since. You can never underestimate an animal.

I just adopted a cat yesterday. It's front claws are declawed. If they weren't, I wouldn't have taken a cat in. I don't agree with it so I couldn't have done it myself, for sure. But, it's something to look into if you REALLY wanna keep the cat and don't want DD continuously being scratched.

3 cats (and 3 dogs) and never had this happen to our girls. Declawing hurts the cats (they rip off their "knuckles" too) so please don't. They make guards for their nails...or keep them trimmed (like once a week) And to whomever said to get rid of it, obviously doesn't have animals. You teach animals "no" like a child and not drop them on a dime.

I've seen somewhere using a spray bottle with water and some vinegar on the cat when he displays unwanted behavior could help train him? He'll be getting fixed soon, so hopefully that helps too. He is a really great cat, and very affectionate towards me, not so much my boys or DH, and DD seems to love him too even though he's a bit rough.
