Would you buy your daughter a designer purse?

posted 22nd Feb
Have you ever seen little girls (6-10) at the store walking around wearing a designer purse and think wtf??

I know that the purse can very well be a hand me down. But I've seen some wearing current season purses.

I also know that little girls love to emulate what they see from their mother. I personally would NEVER buy my daughter a designer purse that young. Sure I might consider letting her have my hand me downs when she is A LOT older. Half the time I end up carrying her dang purse as it is.

What are your thoughts?

If I had the money and she wanted it, maybe.

I buy new purses often, so my DD gets in season coach bags I don't really see the big deal.

I wouldn't. We simply can't afford them!
Even if we had money to burn I doubt I would.
Little girls can emulate mum with a cheap handbag, it's better for their imagination to pretend

I mean if I was the type to carry designer purses, why not? Probably not that young but as a young teen or whatever, maybe as a reward for good grades or something. Right now I get my purses from H&M or Target for like 10 bucks and won't spend much more than that on one but hey, by the time I have a pubescent daughter smurf could change.

maybe they got it at good will? I see a lot of D&B and Coach at the thrift store on base too.

Heck a woman came and bought my Juicy purse for her 4 year old as a play purse for $50. I mean if they have the money

Maybe as a birthday present when my girls turned 16 but not before, they can get their stuff a Walmart or somewhere in the mall.

Not sure Vera counts as designer(but some of that smurf is expensive!) but my best friend buys my 4 year old a purse every few months. Dd has more than I do :-/

I agree with this!

As a teen I could see the justification. 15 and up! I just feel that it is silly since most girls aged 6-10 end up having mommy carry their purse anyway.

I'm not against buying second hand. I've seen that...what I was talking about was current season Coach purses.

Even if I had the money I wouldn't buy her a designer purse at that age!

Not that young because they wouldn't appreciate it like a teenager or young adult would.

Sure. I have a ton she could use that I no longer need. Heck, my son wears designer clothes.
