Breastfeeding sick

posted 22nd Feb
I have a stomach virus right now and I'm worried it might affect my supply. my son was sick two days ago and now I have it. The good news is my baby girl doesn't seem to have it. My body hurts and I may be a little dehydrated. Just now able to hold down water. Baby has been nursing like usual today and now my breasts feel deflated. My milk will come back right? She isn't acting hungry so I guess she is getting enough.

Just nurse her like normal.   Your breasts are never empty. There's always milk in them and always more being produced.

Just keep drinking lots of water. I got sick when my now 5 1/2 month old was 4 months and my supply dropped ( as did my weight; lost 7lb in 3 days :/ ) It was awful. But once I was able to keep something down, I made sure to eat a lot of small meals/snacks. I made myself eat oatmeal every single day for 8 days afterwards (just once a day) and my supply was back in full force by the 9th day. You'll be fine. Just nurse, nurse, nurse and drink, drink, drink

your supply should be fine as long as youre BFing. eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water and fruit juices, and take prenatal or multivitamins everyday if you can. when my breasts feel deflated and i think there's nothing left to give, i still try and feed my baby and within a minute or less i feel my milk come in and hear him swallowing. when i was sick i was worried about passing it on to my son..but the BF specialist i talk to every month said to continue nursing because the antibodies or something in the breastmilk makes their immune system strong. and if they were to get sick, they wouldnt get it as bad as you have it because of your healthy milk with all its nutritious wonders keeping them happy and healthy.
