Quoting Legendary Bonnie Beaver:" My oldest has severe aggression at times. His frontal lobes are severely debilitated though, so they ... [snip!] ... year old. So I know Tyler's won't be as bad as Aidan's; I had just really feared this and never wanted Tyler to have autism. "
I fought against a diagnosis of autism for 3 and 1/2 years before I gave in. I kept hoping it was something different.
I'm still terrified my following kids will have it, but it's something that just comes with having kids ,you never know. But the anxiety of it will kill you. The worry.
My oldest is on medication for the aggression. Thankfully, although he's isolated at school and mainly by himself, he has been able to excel. When he entered school last year(kindergarten), he had the mental capacity and learning ability of an almost 3 year old. That far behind because Early Intervention failed him. now thanks to severe hard work from him, me, and the teachers, his brain has finally kicked in and now he's almost ahead.
I have pretty severe anxiety when his behavioral problems kick in. It's really hard for me. I just don't know how to handle it.
