Birth Center mamas

What did you pack in your bag?
I feel like I may be over packing since I won't be spending days there afterwards like I would in a hospital. They also don't provide the massive pads, so I know there's a bit of a difference... TIA

I'm wondering the same thing.. I have a while yet as I'm not due til September. I've had two hospital births and I'm delivering this one at a birth center and I have no idea what to bring... I mean there are obvious essentials, but I don't want to over pack. I thought I'd bring a regularly packed diaper bag, (including a boy outfit and girl outfit depending on what the baby is) comfy clothes/post birth under wear, clothes for hubby, nursing bra, toiletries, camera/video camera and chargers... maybe some snacks. It feels weird thinking about packing so lightly. I will probably worry I will forget something.

That's what I'm scared of. I feel like I'm going to forget something.
Or think that I won't really need something and end up needing it.

why do you need make up? You're having a baby, not walking the runway..... That seems a bit much.

OP: doesn't your center give you a check list?

I'd say keep it simple and only bring what they don't provide.

Obviously you'll want shampoo etc. to clean up
the pads they won't provide
diapers (if they don't provide)
comfy clothes for after
take home outfit for baby
camera
ipod/mp3 player
car seat

that should be more than enough w/ out going over board.

She gave me a list that consisted of
pads
adult diapers
snacks
music I wanted to listen to while laboring

and a couple other things...
I just didn't know if things like toiletries would be necessary since I won't be there for longer than a few hours after I give birth..

ETA: and yeah, I barely ever wear make-up when I'm not pushing a baby out of my vagina... blegh.

I can understand maybe putting light make up on if you had planned for a professional photographer to be there?? But even that can be a stretch when you're in labor and can only focus on breathing through the contractions. Still doesn't hurt to pack just in case though.

lots of women actually do carry makeup with them, i considered bringing it, didn't even think about it when i was in labor lol! or afterwards.
but basically my list consisted of:
chapstick: a must! your lips will get really dry.
hair ties: you'll want it, you'll be burning up lol.
snacks and mints: i didn't touch the snakes i brought because the hospital provided me with them, the mints i liked!
pads: honestly, it's your options, but my hospital brought me some and believe it or not they were actually great qaulity lol.
extra clothes: i brought 2 pair of pants, like 2 or 3 shirts, changes of underwear, (they will give you these little elastic underwear to put on for the first 2 days) bra and socks!
i'v heard a lot of people bring their own pillow, hospital pillows are soo uncomfortable, i thought about it but i didn't, i had too much stuff already lol.
boppy pillow if you have one, i love them(:
i brought me a power aid, to help with thirst.
of course phone, so you can take pictures or camara.
shampoo, body wash, deoderant, toothbrush... the hospital provided me with toothbrush, deoderant, body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, listerne, all of that.. it was cheap stuff and smelt bad!! i highly reccommend you bring your own lol. just buy the sample 1.00 stuff(: that's what i did, worked great.
and i think that's all i brung lol! hope this helps(:
