Travel in the 7th month

posted 10th Jun '08
My husband is freaking out! We want to go up to South Dakota from Nevada from the 28th of June until July 5th. I'll be app. 29-30 weeks along. We'll be traveling in a black '77 Chevy pickup with no a/c. He thinks that something is going to go wrong. I keep telling him that as long as the doctor says it's okay then it should be fine. I've always heard that you can travel up until your last month, unless you're high risk, which as far as I know, I'm not. Does anyone have any reassurring words for my worried hubby?

Oh man... I have plans to move from Georgia to North Carolina when I'm 36weeks... so I HOPE travel is okay!

My hubby is feeling the same way about us going to the beach during July 4th. Although we have A/C (thank goodness in this 100 degree+ weather), he is freaking out because I'll be 5.5 wks from my due date. Now, unless the doc says something different we're still going to go. My hubby said there is a hospital just over the bridge with a birthing center JUST in case and he's going to call to make sure I'll be able to go there if need be. Plus, we're staying in his families OLD beach house, but I'll be able to relax a bit.

As for you, w/out A/C why don't you buy one of those battery powered fans that will also allow for water to go through it? That's an option if you get too overheated.

Well, most will tell you to make frequent stops to walk so your back doesn't hurt more than usual and to drink plenty of fluids. If you are not high risk, you will probably be okay. Since there is no a/c I would dress light so you don't get too hot maybe? Just try to make it as easy on yourself as possible.

You just can't fly after 32 (maybe 34 weeks). Driving should be fine! My doctor gave us permission to fly to Ohio (from Utah) and then do a driving tour to Toronto and back (11 hours). He told me to be prepared to stop and pee every 2 hours. Also to stretch my legs and prevent clots & swelling. Pack good snacks and lots of H2O! Safe travels!!!

My doctor is letting me travel next weekend and I'll be 33 weeks and 1 day. Maybe you could tell him about other pregnant girls that are further along then you who are traveling.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd we went to Vegas for Christmas. I was due Feb.8 and we left Dec 21. I was told that I could fly before my ninth month.
We were supposed to fly back on Jan 2. but ended up being delayed by 5 days (snowstorms in Toronto) -- by then I was 8 mos. pregnant. I cut it a bit close perhaps

I am due the week before you and we're getting ready to drive from Maryland to Florida this friday. I'll be 28/29 wks. Its a 12 hr drive. I'm not worried other than having to make more bathroom stops. Just make sure to bring LOTS LOTS LOTS of water and try to stay cool even though you dont have a/c. even if it means more bathroom stops, water! i wouldnt worry about the traveling though. as long as you take it easy you'll be fine.

i just got back from FL sunday. I am 33 weeks. I just had to make sure that i saw my doctor last week. They check everything, to make sure that it is ok. And they checked to make sure i had not dialated. We drove 6-7 hour drive, but we had a/c. i guess it would be ok. as long as you stop to walk around and go to the bathroom and drink lots of water.
