New baby jealousy?

I am pregnant with my second child. This is my 4th pregnancy I had a miscarriage in June of last year, and one three years ago.I have a 16 year old son from my first pregnancy. He is the best kid in the world!I couldn't have asked for a better son. What I was wondering is if there is anyone who has been in this situation, and had kids so far apart, or has been in this situation themselves with a younger sibling? I am worried that he is going to be jealous with all the attention the new baby is going to get. It was only the two of us most of his life until I met my husband a year and a half ago. I have asked him if he feels left out, but he keeps insisting that he is fine, and is very excited for this baby to come. Any advice to make sure that he doesn't feel left out? I'm sort of in the same boat. My son will be 12 when this baby is born. I was a single mom for 10 years before I met my husband. My son wants a girl because he wants to be the only boy.

I have no idea what to expect when the baby actually gets here. I'm hoping that my relationship with my son stays as close as we've always been.

i dont think he should have any jelousey , he is old enough to understand, and seeing what a baby needs and how much they take might prevent a teenage pregnancy.lol

hes 16 id believe him when he says hes fine..this bay wis going to be a good realilty check for him....lol

well the good thing about him being 16, is he's at an age of independence...he doesn't need mommy for everything...and he will be able to help a lot and be involved that way...I say let him help pick names and nursery stuff, if he seems interested, and keep some time set aside for just the 2 of you.....hope that makes sense, one handed typing is hard  

my sister was born when I was 10 years old and it was awesome! I had no jealousy at all and I loved her so much!!!

My brother and I are 10 years apart and when he was born I was never jealous. He was kinda like a live doll for me, and the type of attention a baby needs is WAY different than what older children want.

Your son will be fine. He is probably excited. My baby brother (my only other sibling) and I are fourteen years apart. I was so exicted when he was born that I helped my mom extremely the first two or three years of his life. Shoot, I think I was more strict with him then my mom. My mom would always joke to my brother when he was a toddler like do I have to tell your sister about how your behaving. LOL. We are closer then ever.

That is so funny you said that, because I have been thinking the same thing! I had him when I was 18, and struggled to suport him, so I don't want him to go thru that. What's sad is that he has a lot of friends his age who have kids, and they make fun of me for having a baby so old. They tease me and say i'm old enough to be a grandma!
