No, I expect that too..lol

Her post in general makes her sound bitter.
Lots of people cash in their cans, though, I don't know anyone who does it for weed and such but I've cashed in cans from FS. Not that it was much money though.

Pasta and rice is only unhealthy in grossly high amounts. You can have it as part of your diet and it actually be very good for you. Especially with the many types of rices.

Why doesn't your husband drink coffee or regulate healthier things in his diet so that he has more energy? Ive never understood soda as an energy source. You just get amped up for a few minutes and crash hard an hour or two later.

I try not to, but I HATE water too. I try drinking tea or adding those drink packets to my water. (they're horrible for you, but i've been dehydrated too many times to not try to drink water).

What kind of salsa do you make that makes it costly....? Each jar of Salsa for me is 4+ dollars after taxes. When I buy the ingredients, I make 15 jars for 6 dollars

I think the entire system needs to go away. Anyone who qualifies for food assistance should get a box ofhealthy basics weekly based on family size and need. Vegetables, protein (lean meat or vegetarian options), fruit, healthy dairy, and whole grains. Thats all you're getting from the taxpayers. Anything else they can pay for themselves.

I agree that the system is REALLY screwed up and that a weekly box would be much better. Becasue of access, I think a better system would be "the box" plus a WIC-style system.
It will NEVER happen or move in that direction. Bummer.

We only ever ate turkey meat but then DD and I both have very low iron so we switched back to red meats occasionally.
