re: food stamps

I don't really care one way or another. People who collect food stamps have to eat too and if they choose to use their food stamps for junk food then that's their choice.

I think partial is the income limits down here when I looked into WIC it was an income limit of 4200 for a family of 5 counting the new baby. Food stamps is a way lower income qualification. So pretty much down here anybody can get WIC and fewer people qualify for foodstamps. I've paid a smurfload of taxes and my husband pays a smurfload of taxes, the construction company he works for offers full benefits and I can see where people get mad at the ones for never working a day in their life or paying no taxes but I dont understand why its just assumed that the people who get assistance don't pay the same taxes. We get them right now because nobody is going to higher a pregnant lady who only has 9 weeks to go and its been raining a lot so he doesn't work quite so much but now that has stopped so he will be working much more now

I think what's not getting through is why he doesn't give you money for food as well. Regardless of not living together, you are together and if he is supporting everything else then why is he not supplying food money?

Judge me i dont care but we get foodstamps and we dont buy soda and stupid process foods. We cook our meals and shop at the health food store. We buy chips and snacks for the teens. But because were low income doesnt mean i dont know how to eat healthy and we are a family of fat lazy asses. I think people put to much of a stigma on low income famlies. Just because wete in a hard spot doesnt mean we dont work as hard as thr higher income people. Its not like we get enough food stamps to buy lobster and t bone steak!

That's good that you do... I believe that you are the exception though... not the rule. And some people do get enough for that. I've seen 3 and 4 person families getting 700-800 a month in FS. We dont even spend that much of our own money and we're a family of 4.

I've seen that too! I have no idea HOW they get that much. Even when my husband wasn't working, we got $419 for a family of 4. And we never finished it all. I usually had like $50 left at the end of the month.

I'm not judging.   Foodstamps are there for you if you need it.

i get 647 for a family of 4 because my husband only brings in 800 and im not working.

I have about 100 most times left over i use for milk and apple juice because my son needs apple juice to be able to go to the bathroom and milk is the only thing keeping weight on him

That's insane. How would someone even spend that much on food per month? I know there's you, and your husband, but I doubt your son eats like an adult, and then there's an infant... I know my friend used half her foodstamps on her daughter's formula cause WIC wouldn't cover the AR. That's the only way I could see it being possible... Do you buy bulk?

We usd to get like 883? But it was for 7 people and 300 something of it was for our nephews. For us 5 alone, the most we've ever gotten was 510.
