re: food stamps

This is what I'm trying to demonstrate,.the huge amount of grey area. We don't get assistance (though I wish I did, then maybe I could afford to try quinoa!) But most people on assistance don't know very.much about nutrition, they cook what's cheap and easy. I think alonf with food stamps, they should offer nutritional cooking classes.

That's a great idea. I think they should as well. The only problem, is that we're a society of convenience. If it takes too much time or effort, we don't want it. Even people who are well off would probably rather go out to eat than deal with slaving in the kitchen. That's a huge reason there is so much junk food in stores and so many fast food places. Until we calm the hell down, I think it will continue to be that way.

I agree. I'm working through a lifetime of poor eating habirs and it smurfing sucks.

I guess I'm just preachy about healthy eating because I switched to a clean eating diet, and lost 108 lbs. I felt AMAZING! more energy, healthier. I just felt like a different person. I see overweight children huffing and puffing trying to chase a ball, and it makes me sad. It doesn't have to be like that.

It starts with the parents. I grew up with barely enough cheap food,.ended up overweight from binging when I could. Mom and grandma started me on fad diets at.age ten. Now here I am, 22 and every.day I have to remind myself that it's okay to be hungru because I will be able to have food and that I don't have to binge because.I know I won't be restricted by anyone but myself.

Food stamps and wic are there to help you if you are destitute. They are not luxury programs, or shouldn't be. They are a safety net to keep you from living deplorably. Why would people think that tax payers should pay for them to have extras? Don't they know our country is suffocating in debt? And they are worried about getting soda for free? Ignorance.

I'll be honest though, I'd rather see a kid eating junk food than no food at all.

Well... obviously. lol. But They have a choice. They can buy their kids an apple or a bag of chips.

Yes...But not all will. A lot of parents either don't have time to cook from scratch or THINK they dont and would just do a lot of here's a sandwich, have a good dinner.

There'd be a mix. My neighbor, for instance, never thought she could cook until I showed her it was easy.

just to add i buy no red meat i use turkey on everything....I was just wondering but yah theres really no limits like i said when i worked in a call center, i got a call about crab legs....

but yah i buy steak like once a year on it.

I dont care to tell you but i can tell u that im in school as a full time student to get my degree and work to get off the help however i need some other support to go back to school now that i have it i can't wait to get my degree and get off the help that i have.

Well it's awesome that you're working towards getting off, but I thought it was supposed to be temporary? I too, am in school full time, as well as work full time.
