i am pretty sure someone recently got in trouble for this in NY

I am torn. I don't agree with tattoos for beauty sake on animals, but at the same time, we microchip them (and that is not comfortable). The dog is clearly put out. If it were done at the same time as being fixed, then there wouldn't really be much increased pain.

I don't like it, I think it's stupid, but I also think we generally have bigger fish to fry.

We do meaner things to pets. If it was just the phone number MAYBE but the heart and name is excessive and shouldn't be allowed.

This one lady thinks the tattooist should be hung... and she's cussing me out because I don't think it is that big of a deal and no where near the deserving of death mark.... not something I would do but whatever.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, so this whole "OMG PAIN" thing is a stupid reaction to me. I'm sure being neutered feels really great too, you know?

Same here. I wouldn't do it, but seriously, with all the animals out there that need homes and are ACTUALLY abused by owners who don't care about them---you'd think people would be able to find a better issue to be all apesmurf about.

Yeah, that lady is confused and seemingly very angry at the world.

It's not nice or needed IMO but we clip tails and ears and the dogs in dogs shows go through way worse smurf than this without being put out. I mean simple grooming will hurt worse than waking up with a tattoo.

I mean.. Some dogs get their balls cut off.

If you're going to be an animal activist start somewhere else.

poor doggy could look like a phone book when its done the way some people change their numbers. Hell after this with her number out there people might start calling her and saying nasty things then she will have to change it anyways.

i know some dogs have a symbol to show they have been neutered... but nothing this extreme lol

Meh, I think it's ridiculous and I wouldn't personally do it. But whatever, not my dog. I think it's a lot less cruel than docking a dog's tail/ears or declawing a cat. JMO.

I think it's dumb because she may change numbers. My pup has a tattoo on her belly to show she is fixed. My mom's ferret had a tattoo on the tip of her ear to show she was not wild. But yeah, while I think this is stupid, at least she seems to love her pet. From what little you can see the dog looks healthy. Too many strays and abused animals for me to worry about a lady tattooing her dog. (And yes I am one of those crazies that catches strays and finds them homes! All of my dogs have been rescues except one and he was a gift.)
