I just found out last week that I was having a baby girl. Before we found out we had started discussing boy and girl names and came up with five boy names we both liked but couldn't agree on a girl name. We went through thousands of girl names and I only came up with two I even remotely liked (I know Im picky) and SO hated both of them and one of the two sounded terrible with his last name. Well last night he said what about Sophia? I love the name but hate how popular it is right now. I told him that and he said "Who cares what other people name their kid its our baby and we should name it what ever we want" Im really not sure what to do because it was so hard to even find names that I liked and here is one that I love and SO loves and it flows really well with his last name... but its so danmed popular. What would you do?

Well coming from someone whose DD is named Sophia, I'd say go for it. The popularity of a name doesn't matter. There may be a million Sophia's but none are YOUR Sophia. Your Sophia will be unique all in her own and she wouldn't need a indifferent name to prove so

I don't really care about popular names   But yeah, I think Sophia was the number one name for 2011.. lol

I say...........Who gives a smurf if it's a popular name? It's YOUR baby.

I would use it, unless you find another name you love. I mean, what other choice do you have? Give the kid a name you don't even like?

it might be popular but it has been for a few years, and it isn't one of those horrid made up names so that's a bonus.
