Breast Milk Storage Question

posted 22nd Feb
I am thinking about breastfeeding/pumping when this baby is born, but since i didn't even think about it when i was pregnant with DD im not sure on it.

I picked out a double electric pump by playtex and bottles and liners. But how do you actually store the milk? You can't just leave it in the liner, can you? Or do the liners close like ziplock?

I've never used that brand before. I have the First Years Mipump double electric pump. I pump into the bottle then store in Target's Up & Up brand storage bags. Lay flat to freeze then store upright in the back of the freezer (I use a pop box to store my bags)

Well it says that you can pump, store and use all in the same bag, so you dont have to worry about spills. But the box was showing storing it in the bag while it was in the bottle. So im really confused.

the baggies close at the top like zip locs and you can leave them in the fridge for a week or the freezer for 4 months. Or even just store it in those pump bottles if you have any. That's great you want to breast feed! It's amazing

Honestly, I hate pumping so pumping to others can "share feed" would not be my ideal day lol They can help in other ways. As far as going out, be confident in NIP girl, baby needs to eat

Yuck I tried pumping, it worked for a little while but it's just a pain the smurfing ass! It's so much easier to just whip the boob out lol but to each their own, good luck!

Yeah the job thing I get but I'm a sahm and won't be returning to work until they're all in school full time. All I can suggest is LOTS of lanisoh (I get raw after pumping once/twice a day) and lots of water/oats. Good luck

I am wanting to breast feed, too. Also, I am wanting to pump and store milk. I am wanting the Medella, but they are so expensive. We have a sundry store where I live and everything is new and closed up. They have all of the medella bottles and storage bottles for $7-12 a box. I have been getting some of those boxes. I want to be able for others to feed the baby, too. I did not breast feed with my first child. I no hardly anything about breast feeding lol. I do not blame you for wanting to breastfeed/pump!!!!

I feel confused on the whole thing. But looked into a hospital today on where i want to deliver, and they have a breastfeeding team, that helps you to get comfortable with doing it. But i dont want to wait until i deliver to feel comfortable with knowing what to do.

Honestly, I freaked out more once she arrived. Third baby but first breastfed. I thought I knew everything beforehand but the bleeding cracked nipples, 13 days of non stop nursing and growth spurts, I was NOT prepared for. It takes a lot of patience.

Yes I feel the same way. I want to know as much as I can before the baby comes. I want to make sure that I have everything I need, too (breast shields, nursing bra, etc).
