name rules?

Ok so I am sure I am being selfish for this but we decided to name this LO once we found out her sex to name her after my husbands mom/grandma and my mother....well my mom and I have never been on great terms but she cleaned up and has now relapsed again and screwed me over AGAIN and so that kinda ruins the good namesake from her and the MIL told my husband just the other day that he needs to cut his losses with me being so needy when I am pregnant and to divorce me and take our son...among many other nasty things ....So its kinda hard to want to name my child after these women when yes they have done great things but considering these behaviors that is coming with the good deeds I just dont feel like they deserve to have a baby named after them but I am also thinking I am probably being selfish because a name is forever and doesent mean a child will be like that I just dont want her walking around our family named after these bitter mean women regardless of the good things they have done....So what is the rule of thumb over naming babies after people its not really supposed to be about your relationship with that person but about the good person than can be right?

I felt I was being selfish by doing that tho and didnt want to ruin a good namesake for my child just because they messed it up and I was being selfish but I really feel like when you name a child after someone it should be someone you are proud of and while these women have done amazing things I cant stand how selfish they are even tho that doesent mean my child will be I just dont think it owuld be great if thats also what comes to peoples mind when they see my LO

I'm sorry there are such horrid people in your life. Don't feel obligated to name your daughter after them just because of their blood relation to you/your husband. Clearly neither of them deserve it. You aren't being selfish AT ALL.

I am glad to hear this because I really hate being petty towards these women because they have done so much but it really irks me thinking they should get such an honor when they clearly dont deserve it...now I need a new name lol oh well it could be fun I had this name already picked out when I was pregnant with my son but he grew a penis so we ended up with a new namesake lol
I dont have alot of postive women in my life to name this baby after so I get to just make one up that sounds good seems easier plus its a girl so other than really masculine names it would be easier to name a girl I would think

I would never name my baby after someone who said something so negative about me. JMO.. If this baby is a girl I'm naming her after my grandma, because she's the toughest lady I know, which will be interesting, because my grandma has a "grandma" name.. lol my poor baby!

It isn't selfish at all. I would drop all names that are after someone and juat name lo what you want.
