Testing for THC?

I am 33 weeks with #2 and I live in Oregon. I see my midwife every week because I have depression and she put me back on my medication. Every week they test my urine for protein and sugar and every week it's fine. My questions are:

1. Do they have the authority to test my urine for THC without telling me? Could they have already?

2. I quit smoking marijuana this week (7 weeks before my due date) and I know I won't have an issue peeing clean if they test me, but what about the baby? I am constantly drinking water or Sprite and I try to exercise 5 times per week.

It really depends on your state to be honest. Lol But if you pop up clean, they have no reason to test your kid. I smoked till I was about 29 weeks, and they pee tested me when I went in for L&D and I had no problems after that.

I hav ebeen drug tested during labor. As far as i knos they have to tell you and you have to sign paperwork, and thqt sorta thing. They also cantest the babies meconium if they feel the need too and thqt can and will show drug use for months during pregnancy. You can always call the hospital and say you are writing a paper or sometning and ask if they routinely drug test laboring moms and babies.


Also they can drug test if they feel the need to. Like if someone came in all cracked out they would drug test without consent.

This. And here in Cali, if they see no reason or evidence to test your child's meconium then they wont.

If you have used any type of drugs starting from 20 weeks of pregnancy on the baby's meconium will show positive if they test it...

Yeah my friend was drug tested and she said it was cuz they told her she had a mixed baby and had more than 1 std in her life. Idk hwo true that is, but its whqt she told me. She tested positive and so did baby, but she kept her baby and paid a fine and took a class she said.


I personally think it is against someone rights to drug test like that. But i was told by a nursefriend they are now making it routine back in ohio where i delivered to test babies for narcotics after birth

That is crazy that they tested the baby because it was "mixed"... How smurfed up & racist. What do STD's have to do with drug use?
Here in California if your baby pops up positive for any type of drug, CPS will take your child right then and there...

No, they cannot test your urine without your consent. Where the lines get blurry, at least for me it was, that when they were prescribing me a controlled substance they tested my urine every time I peed at an appt. they never flat out asked me to, and I don't know if that was wrong on their part or not. If I hadn't been pregnant with a million other things on my head, I would and should have had the presence of mind to speak up.

That being said, I never smoked pot during my pregnancy. But I'm not judging you AT ALL. I know that it can take three to six weeks for pot to leave your syste
m when you're NOT pregnant. Faster or slower for some people. So to be honest I don't know if it would take as long while pregnant but your metabolism is faster, but you store more fat. So I'm clueless. It's hard to find any reliable info on this topic if you look online, but I'd try to get at least an idea to ease your mind either way.

You live on Oregon, right? I can't see the state taking your baby over pot. I don't even know if they can.

Because I toldthem about my past drug use, they never tested me when I was getting pre-natal care, but when I was in labor they gave me consent form so they could test me for, *drugs of abuse*
I always let them test me, so idk what would have happened if I refused...

I do remember when they bought Maks to me when I changed his diaper, they had cotton balls on him, I asked the nurse if she wanted them, she acted like she had no idea how they got in there
