Dr. concerned about baby's weight...

posted 21st Feb
Haven't been on here in a long time but I have been so busy now as a mommy of four little ones   I decided to hop on here though with some insight on my baby boy Oliver! I don't vaccinate so usually after their checkups after being born I don't really go to the Dr. unless they get sick and I need to but they never get sick so we rarely ever have to go to the Dr. Well the kids all contracted RSV from their cousin and so obviously they went in and the Dr. was really concerned about his weight and said that he is off the charts and below 1% at 12 pounds 2 ounces and will be 7 months on Sunday(the 24th). I have always told people to back off when they started bugging me about his weight cause I thought maybe he was just small but now I am wondering since it's not just his weight but a combo of things. He isn't gaining weight, he doesn't laugh at all, you have to work for his smiles, he can't sit up or do anything but roll over some, baby food upsets his belly no matter what I try and he just isn't interested in it. So does anybody have an idea on what it could be? I have an appointment when we will start looking into it but right now I have to keep a log of how much he eats and when. Anyways I know this is long but I was just wondering if anyone might have some thoughts! TIA

I have no idea, but 12 lbs is really small for a 7 month old.   Is he short too?

My daughters 6 months and is 12lbs 15oz
Her doctor said she's in the 5%
He said because she gained 2lbs in 2 months that its nothing worry about that she's just on the small side.

When her doctor was concerned he had me put her on rice cereal.

They didn't measure him but his legs are really long and skinny to me! He fits in 0-3 months except the length of pants. He is in 6 months pants but they are just huge on his waist.

He hasn't even gained a full pound in 2 months....

I would be really concerned then, after everything you have said...
Nothing could be wrong all babies learn at different rates and grow.
But still is concerning.
Maybe try the rice cereal like I had to do, she drinks 6oz so 3 scoops of formula and one scoop of the rice.
She eats every 2 hours.

My daughter just got into 3-6 month cloths.
I'd make another appointment to run tests...
Maybe see a specialist in development.

A lot of mums don't vaccinate. There are risks to vaccinating you just have to choose if the risk outweighs the benefit

You have a choice.
I vaccinate she just had 4 shots yesterday.
I beleive that they benefit more then taking a chance of getting a bad flu or rsv etc.
but that's my opinion and I don't judge others who don't.

I selective vaccinate. So she has some and not others. I didn't want her to have vitamin k for instance ( though in the end I changed my mind)
