low income or income based apartments

whats the difference really.. and do u have to make a certain amount to get either.

I think some low income have static rent costs, where income based is a sliding fee scale.

For low income you may need to make a certain amount, if the above is correct, not for income based.

A big issue that I see often is that the heating/cooling costs are often outrageous in many buildings with subpar structures. Electric costs of nearly $500 in the winter months are common in my apartment complex - not an easy bill to pay considering it's income based housing and MANY of the tenants are disabled and can't work.

low income is usually based on one set amount a month. its usually very low. income based means that each apartment would be paying a different amount depending on how much they make and other expenses. So basicly the same thing..but I don't know much about it other then that. if its something to consider there are usually websites online for different areas and it will help give a more detailed description.

dang that's way, way higher than here! I suppose you live in California too though, so the cost of living is outrageous!

right now my boyfriend is working at mcdonalds making 7.25 an hour and im not working atm so i was just tryin to look into finding an apartment because we need to move out of where we are. thank u all

Yes I do live in Cali! It's ridiculous. Around 1,000 per month no utilities included for 1bdrm. I pay 900 for a 1 bdrm right now

It's based on income,situation and availability. It varies depending on where you live.
