Allergic to FF but, not BM

posted 21st Feb
I stopped breastfeeding two weeks ago, my milk dried up but I'm trying to get it back. Well, for a week now since my babies only on FF she has this horrible rash on her face, neck, and ears. We tried many things to get rid of it and nothing. At first I thought it was my husbands beard but it would go away after this is different I just know it. I think she's allergic to only Formula she gets really fussy after eating, really colicky, spit up like vomit and she's always hungry. I'm trying to get donated milk to help until I can get mine. Could she be allergic to FF? I think the BM really helped.

It is possible. Formula has dairy products in it among other things. Breast milk is amazing. It is also a natural antiseptic. Excellent for diaper rash as well!!

Oh no, what can I do to start my milk up? I'm just worried I'll run out of donated milk one day until i can find the next batch if I don't get my supply back.

Lots of pumping and rubbing, even if nothing is coming out. Constantly stimulate!

Its very possible. I was allergic to formula that my grandma would give me while my mom was at work. As soon as they found out my mom quit working and stayed home to ebf

Lots of nipple stimulation and pumping. Even try putitng baby to breast just to suck if you can. There are supplements you can take also. Try contecting a lactation consultant in your area. In the mean time, if you have to use formula try a soy formula. You can even find organic formula I believe.

I tried telling my grandmother but she didn't believe me. She says it has to be all over the body it's all over her head now. She just didn't look like this before and it seems to bother her for like a 1mos old she's trying to scratch her face because it itches.

Oh yea, just read the ingredient list on the back of the can will list a few possible infant allergies, one of the most common milk based additives.
I would find a lactation consultant, just having someone you can sit down face to face with supporting you to re-lactate will be one of best things you can do for yourself. Also pumping, nipple stimulation, and mothers milk tea, fenugreek.
Goodluck!

^best site for re-lactation advice. I would also contact an LC and make sure to take funagreek and blessed thistle asap. The sooner you start the sooner your milk will come back.

If you need donor milk I would contact Human Milk 4 Human babies and locate a donor in your area. They can be found on FB. You can request the donors health records from pregnancy as well if you feel insecure about receiving milk from another woman. I assure you it is safe and less babies have gotten sick from donor milk then formula. Especially because formula can be easily contaminated.

If you do not locate a donor the first time, keep posting. You will find someone in your area and most people find long term donors. :] Good luck mama <3
Contact that LC asap!

^ your site said you are located in Texas so this would be your HM4HB site to post on. Good luck mama <3

Also I just thought of this but see if your medical insurance covers donor milk with a doctors note. You might be able to get milk through a milk bank since she is not handling formula well at all.

Thank you ladies, I feel so bad because she can't scratch and she's uncomfortable so she won't sleep just cry. She will only sleep in my arms which can be too much some times. I found a donor from HM4HB and meeting with her soon I'm excited but I'm gonna try the doctor option as well. I really need this for her she's freaking out.

I hope it all works out for you mama. <3 Just keep working on that re-lactation. You can do it! It will be tough but with all the herbal supplements and a good support group you got this! Keep us updated. I hope the donor milk helps her a ton.
