Complex Partial Seizures

My son had his neurology consult today. We originally went to it thinking he was experiencing absence seizures so I did my research on them, made a post to get some first hand information and now I'm back at square one. The neurologist and I thought he experienced one right there during the consult which I guess that could be good since the neurologist had an idea of what I was talking about not just taking my word for it. He did assure me that even without seeing it he would have told me I did the right thing by bringing it up to his pedi to recommend a consult.

Now we wait for up to 2 weeks to go for an EEG which he may need to be sedated for   Thats worrisome. I dont want to hold my child down or have him sedated.

We're also doing an urinalysis because the doctor is concerned about a metabolic disorder. My son has extremely sweaty feed and they give off a very distinct odor. My friend asked if he was thirsty a lot lately and I said yes so that is also on my mind now.

Any input on this type of seizures? Do you or your children have them?


Also, if you're on my FB could you please refrain from saying anything on there. Its not something I want to put out there, especially until we have a solid diagnosis, especially if he isnt suffering from them.  

Are they testing for diabetes? Just the excessive thirst thing...

My SIL is diabetic and has seizures (grand mals) but I don't know much about it

If your dr was really worried he would have had your son sent to hospital.

I have no idea what metabolic disorder they're testing for. The thirst wasnt even brought up just his feet sweating and the smell.

Sorry mama. If it was diabetes he would have been taken straight to hospital. Hopefully it's nothing serious

The neurologist said male cat spray/urine. Which I'm not familiar with at all.

It just said patients can't break down proteins and present with a male cat urine smell.

And everything I read (quickly ) says it can be managed by a low protein diet

His EEG came back clear, but it will be a few weeks on the urinalysis.
