Question about breast milk in a bottle??

posted 21st Feb
I have a bottle of refrigerated milk I need to take it to town with me. Can I warm it and than put it in the diaper bag? How long can I use it after its been warmed

Just put it in the bag like it is. It will be room temp or warmer by the time she drinks it. I don't think it would be a good idea to heat it up and not have her drink it soon after.

A bottle is only good for 1 hour after it has been warmed not 4. 4 hours after being refrigerated and left at room temp if it hasn't been warmed.

She is also in Southern Cali not the north like us. So if you think about heating that milk up and then taking it out into the hot weather for 4 hours.. It just kind of sounds nasty. It would likely get warm without heating it up before leaving.

Maybe just leave it out a few hours before you go. That way it definitely won't be cold. Have you tried giving him cold milk? My son always had cold milk and it wasn't an issue.

If it was still warm, could you try warming it up under warm running water? That's what we always did... It worked for us. I wouldn't warm it up then take it though.

My LC said at room temp or out of the fridge it's good for 6-8 hours. My son gets a supplement bottle so that's a lifesaver for me at night.

I have a small bag cooler that came with my pump. I leave BM (breastmilk) in the plastic restore baggy (frozen). If I need it, I usually ask someone for a hot cup of water (waitress). And get it defrosted that way then put it in the bottle when its luke warm. My son is 7mths and I live in Texas. So, it can be freezing in the morning and hot by the afternoon. You never know so its best to keep frozen and not risk baby getting spoiled milk. After it is warm, it can stay in bottle up to 4-5hrs.
Good Luck
